I recalled your eminence with the wisdom of a literate

    Words parted and kinship departed

The stranger came leading the eloquent

And the eloquent came leading the stranger

May you be rewarded for what you have connected

The wing of the literate - attentive and responsive

As if I have attained what he attained

So for me in happiness is the most fulfilling share

My gratitude to your blessings is with Him

And with me, gratitude for the pouring rain

And my words - as your deed has shaken me

As the shaking of the gentle breeze to the supple branch

You remained, and your blessings are hoped for

And your sword is Egypt, and you are the fertile
