When you unravel what was said by the wretched one,
If you piece together what the wretched one has said,
You will find Bakhtiyar to be the name of that torn one.
You will find 'Bakhtiyar' to be the name of that torn man;
Half his name is Bakht, and the reverse of what remains,
For half of his name is 'Bakht', and the reverse of what remains—
Is Yar, the opinion of one not made a fool,
Which is 'Yar'—spells 'Ra'y' [opinion], the view of one not made a fool,
Nor enamored of her who will end up torn
And who never passionately loved one who will end up torn
By the hands of time, in the dust, every torn one.
By the hands of decay within the dust, utterly torn apart.
