A garden wherein are figs and grapes,
A Lamta platter holding figs and grapes,
Of which wonders never cease for me.
My wonder at them both never ceases.
The unripe of it is red, the ripe is white,
The fresh red and the white among them,
Are they perchance ruby and pure gold?
When compared, are but rubies and gold.
The black fig resembles it,
And the black figs resemble—
And in what I claim is no falsehood.
And there is no falsehood in what I claim—
It whispers, from ambergris being composed,
Small caskets of ambergris, gathered together,
And in its thickets are musk and camphor.
Within whose cores are musk and white honey.
So there appeared not in its branches
They never appear in their harvest baskets,
Aught save what for passion is all aflame.
Without kindling a blazing flame of appetite,
It promises that it will not be satisfied
Threatening that it shall never be satisfied,
Save by eating more than duty decrees.
Except by eating far more than one should.
