1. يَوَدُّ أُنَاسٌ خَُيَِّبُوا هُمُ خَيْبَتِي

    وَأَنِّيَ دَهْرِي كَاسِفُ الْبَالِ مُجْدِبُ

    Some people wish my ruin, yet my ruin eludes them,

    While I remain downcast in fate and barren in mind.

  2. وَيَهْوَى أُنَاسٌ سَُلَِّمُوا هُمْ سَلاَمَتِي

    وَأَنِّيَ دَهْرِي نَاعِمُ الْبَالِ مُخْصِبُ

    Some people desire my well-being, yet their well-wishing grants me no safety,

    While I remain at ease in fate and fertile in spirit.
