مُذْ غِبْتَ عَنْ عَيْنِي سُلِبْتُ مَنَامِي

وَالصَّبْرُ خَلْفِي وَالأَسَى قُدَّامِي

Since you've been gone, sleep has deserted me,

Since you vanished from my eyes, I have been robbed of my sleep,

Patience lags behind, while sorrow walks ahead.

With patience behind me and sorrow before me.

حَمَّلْتَنِي هَجْراً بِغَيْرِ جِنَايَةٍ

إِلاَّ صَحِيحَ مَوَدَّتِي وَغَرَامِي

You've burdened me with estrangement without crime—

You burdened me with abandonment without any crime,

Except my true affection and passion for you.

Save for the sincerity of my affection and my passion.

مَا ذَا أُكَابِدُ فِيكَ مِنْ حُرَقِ الْجَوَى

فَالشَّوْقُ شَوْقِي وَالضِّرَامُ ضِرَامِي

What fiery agony for you I withstand!

What burning agonies of love I endure for your sake,

Yearning is my yearning and wounds are my wounds.

For the longing is my longing, and the blaze is my blaze.

مَنْ خَصَّنِي بِهَوَاكَ يَعْلَمُ أَنَّنِي اسْ

تَحْلَيْتُ فِيكَ مَرَارَةََ اللُّوَّامِ

Whoever reproaches me for loving you should know

He who singled me out for your love knows that I

I have tasted in you the bitterness of blame.

Have found sweetness in the bitterness of the reproachers for your sake.

دُمْ عالِماً إنِّي بِحُبِّكَ هَائِمٌ

وَإِلَى لِقَائِكَ غُلَّتِي وَأُوَامِي

Stay knowing that for your love I am possessed,

Know forever that I am wandering madly in love with you,

And to meet you again are all my hopes and dreams.

And that for our meeting is my burning thirst and deepest desire.
