The book of love for you begins with success,
The collection of your love is begun with divine grace,
O you in whom beauty is sealed and begun anew,
O you in whom all beauty is sealed and begun.
And though many praises were raised up for you,
And the sentence of praise has no predicate raised for it,
None but “Messenger of God” was title enough,
Unless you, O Messenger of Allah, are its subject.
With your guidance, minds were lit aflame,
And by your guidance, the embers of understanding are kindled,
O you by whom the fury of the Proud was doused,
O you by whom the wrath of the Almighty is extinguished.
The emotions of thought's daughters were gentled and revived,
The natures of the daughters of thought grew tender and revived,
Since you suckled them from the teat of your glory's bounty,
Since the first milk from the breasts of your glory gave them drink.
And since I had them drink deep of your praise,
And since I milked them for the abundant flow of your praise,
No rust or tarnish remains in the heart,
There remained in the heart neither tarnish nor rust.
God of the Throne sends blessings upon you, for as long
May the God of the Throne send blessings upon you, as long as there are recited
As your praises are recited and your story spreads,
Your praises, and as long as tidings blossom with your remembrance;
No stream ever flowed, no flower ever bloomed,
And as long as a river flows, and a flower exudes its fragrance,
No meadow ever flourished and grew green,
And as long as pastures flourish from the downpour of rain;
No wisdom ever appeared, no parable was ever told,
And as long as wisdom appears, and a proverb circulates,
No partridge ever sang from the thicket loud,
And as long as kites repeatedly swoop at a pellet;
No moon ever rose or shone from your lights,
And as long as a moon sits resplendent in your lights,
No constellation ever unveiled from your mysteries,
And as long as an assembly is fully quenched by your secrets;
And upon your Family, Companions and Successors—
And upon the family and companions, then those who follow them,
Each of them adorned with perfection and bounty.
Those are the people, each of whom is adorned by noble character.
