In an evening when the scent of her beauty was most fragrant
And many an evening whose radiant beauty kindled
Among the souls, desire stirred restlessly
within the breast the searing flames of longing;
The gowns of her splendor spread out into gardens
It spread its carpets of pure gold across gardens
Studded with emeralds of leaves
embroidered with the chrysolite of the leaves,
Yearning for the intimacy she kindled, scorched with passion
Summoning to the wine of intimacy one whose heart is consumed
By the flames of separation—come, bring her here, O fate!
by the blaze of separation: "Arise and bring it, O cupbearer!"
