After being near its tomb, Al-Hashimiyya
The Hashimite, after the closeness of her abode,
Extended its intent wherever it intended.
Has moved far away; how bitter is her departure!
And Al-Hashimiyya continues in my mind
And the Hashimite remains ever in my mind,
A yearning that ignites its fire when I remember it.
A longing whose fire is kindled by her memory.
And Al-Hashimiyya, from the supremacy of its beauty
And the Hashimite, through the sovereign mastery of her beauty,
Makes one forget all supremacy if one forgets it.
Makes all who forget her forget their own sovereignty.
And Al-Hashimiyya, may our Lord protect it
And the Hashimite, may our Lord protect her,
It is right for minds to protect it.
It is a duty upon all minds to cherish her,
And its qualities roam in thoughts
And for their thoughts to wander through her descriptions,
And its beauty and splendor circle in the meadow.
And to explore the garden of her beauty and her splendor,
And it elegantly adorns poetry
And to embroider poems, elegant as they are,
With the wonders of its rhymes and beauty of its wording.
With the marvel of her radiance and the beauty of her adornments.
It is delightful when it gives us permission
We sought refuge, though the time for seeking refuge had passed,
Of our longing, so our hearts have become its home.
From our longing, which has utterly exhausted our hearts,
With its talk, indeed hearts find it sweet,
In her conversation, for indeed hearts find delight in it,
As if they have quenched their thirst with it.
As if they had drunk their life-giving waters through it.
Al-Hashimiyya, its mention is of purity
For the Hashimite, her mere mention, through its sweet fragrance,
It has sweetened the ears and mouths.
Has perfumed both the ears and the mouths.
And Al-Hashimiyya is an irrigated meadow
And the Hashimite is a garden showered by rain,
That reaps life for all who love it.
Yielding life for everyone who loves her.
Woe to he who has owned the insides of his heart.
Ah, for the one whose heart's core she has possessed,
Woe to that, then woe, woe, woe.
Ah for that! And then again, ah, and ah!
