للنَّرْجس الفضلُ برغْم من رغَمْ

على صُنوف الوَرْد والفضْلُ قِسَمْ

The narcissus deserves merit though some disdain it

Above all varieties of roses, it was given distinction

العين قبْل السِّنِّ وهْي المُبْتَسَمْ

فما لها والخدُّ وهْي الملتدَمْ

The eye before the tooth as it smiles

What about the cheek as it blushes red

ما هُوَ إلا نعْمةٌ من النِّعمْ

ما أحسن الشكل وما أذكى النَّسمْ

It is but a blessing of blessings

How beautiful its form, how pleasant its breeze
