جرى لك الطائر السعيدُ

فيمنْ تمَنَّى بما تُريدُ

The auspicious bird has flown to you

With what you wished and more beside

فاستقبِلا العيْشَ ألفَ عامٍ

في نعمةٍ ثوبُها جديدُ

So welcome life for thousands of years

In fresh new raiment to abide

يُصدِّقُ الدهْرُ كلَّ وعْدٍ

فيها ولا يصدُقُ الوعيدُ

Time will confirm each promise made

To you, and none of threats provide

خِدْنَيْ شبابٍ إذا تقضَّى

أعادَهُ المبْدىءُ المعِيدُ

If youth begins to pass away

Renewing Time will be your guide

خُوِّلْتَها كوكباً مُنِيراً

من تحْتِهِ سَرْوَةٌ تميدُ

A shining planet you've been given

With a willow in its shade that sways

أُبِّدَ إحسانُها بحسْنٍ

هِي الأمانيُّ بل تزيدُ

Her kindness has been shown through good

Nay, even more than hoped for says

فاليومُ في ظلِّها قصيرٌ

والعمْرُ في قربها مديدُ

Today, beneath her shade is short

Yet life, when near is long delayed

كلُّ ليالي الزمانِ عُرْسٌ

وكلُّ أيامهنّ عيدُ

Each night of time a wedding feast

And every day a holiday

لو لم تكن مُقْبلاً سعيداً

ما قَرُبَ المطلَبُ البعيدُ

If you weren't favored with good luck

Far hopes would not have come this way

أبشر أبا أحمد بعُقبى

محمودةٍ أيُّها الحميدُ

Good news, Abu Ahmed of an heir

Praiseworthy, O commended one

فلا تخف للزمان غَوْلاً

يا أيها السيِّدُ السديدُ

So do not fear that fickle Time

Will play you false, pre-eminent one

قد سُهِّل الوعْرُ وهو حَزْنٌ

فيك وقد هُوِّن الشديدُ

The rugged path is now made smooth

For you, and difficulty's shunned
