يا ابن يحيى غُدِرتَ غدراً مُبيناً

ورماك الزمانُ بالإقلالِ

O son of Yahya, you have been betrayed openly

And time has attacked you with decline

أتراني قنعتُ منكَ بعذرٍ

لم تجدهُ إلا بلطفِ احتيالِ

Do you think I would accept an excuse from you

That you could not find except with gentle guile

طالما عِشتَ خافضاً فتجهَّز

لركوب العوارمِ الأمثالِ

As long as you have lived in humiliation, prepare

To ride the waves of fate

أو فأعتبْ فليس يجتمع الده

رَ وفورُ الأعراض والأموالِ

Or blame yourself, for prosperity and dignity

Cannot coexist with wealth
