يا وَيْحَ هذا الطبِيبِ وَيْحاهُ

يا وَيْحَ هذا الطبِيبِ وَيْحاهُ

لقد تعدَّى بما تَجنَّاهُ

لقد تعدَّى بما تَجنَّاهُ

Alas for this physician—alas for him!

Indeed, he has gone too far in what he has perpetrated:

يُؤلمُ بالفصْد كفَّ ذي غُنُجٍ

يُؤلمُ بالفصْد كفَّ ذي غُنُجٍ

تَفْصِدُ منا القلوبَ عيناهُ

تَفْصِدُ منا القلوبَ عيناهُ

by bloodletting, he pains the hand of a coy charmer,

while his two eyes bleed the very hearts from us.
