1. إنِّي أراك بعينٍ لا يراك بها

    إلا امرؤٌ جُدِّدَتْ من طَرْفِهِ الحكمُ

    I see you with an eye that none can see you with

    Except one whose wisdom was renewed

  2. ومن رآكَ بعينٍ غير كاذبة

    رأى الذي كُلُّ شيء بعده أممُ

    And he who saw you with an eye that lies not

    Saw what after which all else are nations

  3. في النَّاسِ قومٌ يُريهِمْ إفكُ ظَنِّهِمُ

    شمسَ النهارِ تُباري قطرها الرَّكم

    Among men there are folk whose deluded thoughts

    Show them the sun at noon as pouring down hailstones

  4. ولستُ منهمْ معاذَ اللَّهِ إنهُمُ

    سِيَّانِ فيما روَوْا من ذاكَ والنَّعم

    I am not one of them, God forbid, they

    Are dubious in what they pass on, and blessings be

  5. بل هندسِيٌّ تُريني الشمسَ هَنْدستي

    على الحقيقةِ في شخصٍ له عِظَم

    Rather, you show me, my geometry, the sun geometrically

    In truth embodied in a form of greatness

  6. ومنْ تَحلَّى بعين أبصرها

    من حيث لا يتوارى شخصها العمم

    He who is adorned with the eye that beholds you

    From where your magnificent person is not concealed

  7. ملأْتَ صدري جلالاً يا أبا حسنٍ

    هُدَّت له مِنِّيَ الأركان والدِّعَم

    You have filled my breast with majesty, O Abu Hasan

    To which the pillars and columns bow down

  8. فكلما رمتُ أن ألقاكَ أقعدني

    ما لا يقوم له ساقٌ ولا قدم

    So whenever I try to meet you, you seat me back

    With that before which no leg nor foot can stand

  9. وليس ذاك ببدعٍ لا ولا عجب

    كذاك قِدما تهاب السادةَ الخدم

    Nor is that unprecedented or wondrous

    The feet of servants thus fear the lords

  10. متى أقبِّلُ كفاً منك ما فتئت

    ركناً يُقبَّل للجدوى ويُستلم

    When will I kiss a palm of yours that has not ceased being

    A pillar to be kissed for blessing and acceptance

  11. للناس في كل سر من أسِرَّتها

    وادٍ ترفُّ على أرجائه النِّعم

    For people, in every mystery of theirs

    Is a valley on whose edges blessings pour
