1. إن يُفلتِ السيفُ من كَفَّيْكَ مُنْصَلِتاً

    فليس منك وقِدْماً كان خَوَّانا

    Let loose the sword from your hand double-edged;

    It is not yours if it betrays and deceives.

  2. بل لو يكون مكان السيف من رَجُلٍ

    كمِخْلَبِ اللَّيْثِ منهُ حان من حانا

    But had it been in place of a man, from a man

    Like a lion's claws it would have protected and served.
