تملَّيتَ في النيروز عيشَ المُنَوْرِزِ

وعُمِّرت إعمارَ السعيد المعزَّزِ

You enjoyed a glowing life in the spring festival

And lived prosperously like a mighty honored king

ولا زلتَ سبّاقاً إلى كلِّ غايةٍ

من الجود والإفضال سبقَ المبرز

You have always been ahead of everyone else

In generosity and favor - outpacing the excelling

وأعلاك من أعطاك مجداً وسؤدداً

على كل عِلْج ظاهر البغي مُنْبَز

He who gave you glory and happiness

Raised you above the obvious enmity of the spiteful

وذلت لك الأعداء ذلاً ترى له

لذكراك غيظَاً ظاهراتِ التميُّز

Your enemies were humiliated before you

Seeing you distinguished with clear superiority

هديَّةَ ذي ذخر جزيلٍ موفَّرٍ

ومال قليل عن هداياه مُعْوِز

A gift from one with abundant and plentiful wealth

Yet too little compared to his gifts

يرى بك أسبابَ الغنى مستتبّةً

ويأوي إلى ضنِكِ من العيش مجهِز

He sees in you the causes of prosperity fulfilled

And takes refuge in your time of hardship

له حاجة قد حال دون لقائها

عوائقُ موصولٍ من المَطْل مبرَز

He has a need that obstacles have hindered

Prolonged barriers of procrastination

ولليَأسُ خيرٌ في الأمور مغبّةً

وأروَحُ من وعد امرئٍ غير منجِزِ

Yet there is goodness in despair for difficult matters

And relief from the promise of an unreliable man

وإني لَذو شكر وإنْ لم أفزْ به

لديك وضيقٍ عن تأتّيك معجِز

I am thankful even if I could not fully repay you

Or suffice you, as miracles come only from you

فلا ترضيَنْ في مُحرِزٍ بدنيّةٍ

فلستَ بمعتاضٍ ولياً بمحرِز

So do not be pleased to guarantee my mortal well-being

For you are not wont to stand surety for your client
