ما علِمْنا من لؤلؤٍ ما ذكرتَا

هي وقفٌ إذا هممتَ فَعَلْتا

We knew not of any pearl you mentioned

It's a waqf if you intended and did

بغلَةُ النيك لؤلؤٌ فالْهُ عنها

تُعلَفُ الأيرَ ليس تُعلَفُ قَتَّا

The mule's pack is a pearl, so take it off her

Grass is fed to camels, not crusts

قد ركبنا الذي ركبتَ زماناً

وركضنا في حلبةٍ وركضتا

We rode what you rode long ago

And raced in an arena as you did

إن بيتَ الفتاة بيتُ سِفاحٍ

كلما شئتَ فيه نيكاً وجدتا

The girl's house is a lecher's house

Whatever goodness you seek there you'll find

غير أني أراك تفخرُ أني

بك قد لُطْتُ مرة ثم تبتا

Though I see you brag that I

Once bent over for you then repented

فهنيئاً نيكي لأمك قِدماً

ولك الآن إذ علينا فخَرْتا

So congrats, bless your mom’s feet

And you now that you flaunted over us

يا ابن عبدونَ قد عهِرنا قديماً

وحديثاً بلؤلؤٍ وعهِرتا

Oh son of Abdoun we were shamed before

By a pearl and now again by you

كان غَنَّى في مجلس فلحَيْنا

فانثنى ساكتاً فقلنا أجدتا

Ghanna was singing in a sitting so we beamed

He fell silent so we said “well formulated”

سُرَّنا بالسكوت يرحَمُكَ اللـ

ـهُ فإنَّا في نِعمةٍ ما سَكَتَّا

We rejoiced at his silence, may Allah

Have mercy, we’re in grace whenever he's quiet

ما تُبالي خَرِيتَ في مجلس القوْ

م إذا ما غنَّيتَهم أم ضَرَطتا

You care not if you fart in the sitting of people

Whether you sang to them or cracked wind

ويَخالُ النديمُ أنّك تفسو

إن تنفستَ نحوه أو نَكَهتَا

The boon companion thinks if you breathe

Toward him or belch, you explain

إن دعوناكَ للِّواط فلا بِدْ

عاً وإن كان باطلاً ما زَعَمتا

If we invite you to sodomy, no objection

Even if false what you claimed

فقديماً لِواطُ أمّك معرو

فٌ بيحيى بن صالحٍ قد عَلِمتا
