1. قلْ للمكنَّى باسمِ خيرِ الورى

    صلَّى عليهِ ربُّنا والملَكْ

    Tell the one named after the best of creation

    Upon whom our Lord and the angels prayed

  2. يا حسنَ المرأى وما تحته

    بالحقّ لا بالمنظرِ المُؤتَفَكْ

    O beautiful sight and what lies beneath

    In truth not in delusive facade

  3. نفسي تقيك السوءَ من مُقتدٍ

    بالمجد في كل سبيلٍ سلَكْ

    My soul protects you from the evils of one

    Who seeks glory in every path tread

  4. أصغ إلي قولي بأُذْنِ امرئٍ

    يرى العطايا خيَر مالٍ ملَكْ

    Hear my words with the ear of one

    Who sees gifts as better than wealth owned

  5. لا يقرعُ السنَّ لها نادماً

    ولا يرى المعروفَ شيئاً هلَك

    Who does not bite his fingers in regret

    Nor sees a favor as something lost

  6. اخلعْ على نفسِك لي خلعةً

    باقيةً ما دام هذا الفلَك

    Bestow upon me a robe

    Everlasting as long as this orbit lasts

  7. يلْبسها محتملاً ثِقلَها

    عنك وما زيّنه فهو لك

    Wear it bearing its weight

    While its beauty is yours

  8. درّعْ يماناً جسْمَها وادَّرِعْ

    زينتها تشركْهُ خيرَ الشِّرَك

    Armorm it protecting its fabric

    And adorn it sharing the best company

  9. إنَّ أبا القاسم مستأهلٌ

    عارفةً من عُرفِكَ المشترَك

    Indeed Abul Qasim deserves

    An intimate token of your bounty

  10. قد كنتَ قدَّمتَ بها موعداً

    وليس في المطل بها من دَرَكْ

    You had set with it an appointment

    And in delaying there is no attainment

  11. لن يندمَ المعطي على عُرفِهِ

    بل يأسفُ المُبقي على ما تَرَك

    The giver will not regret his grace

    But the withholder will rue what he kept

  12. يفديك مَنْ همَّ بثوبٍ له

    ثم فداهُ عِرضُهُ المنتهك

    He who thought to cloak himself

    Then his honor redeemed it though violated

  13. عرَّضْنَ عرضاً ووقى ملبساً

    أغرى به اللاحين حتى انتهك

    It was exposed and a garb protected

    Tempting the glances until it was torn
