يخالف إخوانه في الطريق

إلى أن تضمَّهُمُ المائدَهْ

He disagrees with his brothers on the path

Until the table brings them together

فبينا كذلك إذ هُمْ به

مع القوم كالحيَّة الراصدهْ

While this is happening, here he is with them

Among the people like a lurking snake

يلين الطعام على ضرسه

ولو كان من صخرة جامدهْ

Food softens between his molars

Even if it were made of solid rock

ويأكل زاد الورى كلَّه

ولكنها أكلةٌ واحدهْ

He eats all the provisions of mankind

Yet it is only one meal

ولو عاينتْه جحيمُ الإله

لخرت لمعدته ساجدهْ

If you saw his stomach, hell of God

You would bow down before his stomach
