1. لعدوّك الحدُّ الأفلُّ

    ما عِشْتَ والخدُّ الأذلُّ

    Your lowest enemy's limit is that he lives while your cheek is the most humiliated.

    Yet glory comes to you highly

  2. ولك اعتلاءُ الجَدّ في

    خفضٍ وعيشٍ لا يُمَلُّ

    In humility and in a life that does not pall.

    O God's proof that for her opponent the most erring endeavor!

  3. يا حجة اللَّه التي

    لخصيمها السعيُ الأضلُّ

    I still know that, in it, you do not decline to be a army.

    Whence can a boulder,

  4. ما زلتُ أعلمُ أن جي

    شاً أنت فيه لا يفلُّ

    By which the greatest king is warded off, be warded off?!

    My soul is your redemption the day

  5. أنَّى تُرادَى صخرةٌ

    يُردَى بها الملِك الأجلُّ

    The eminent tribe was in the prime of youth.

    When every opinion is fruitless and the crescent of your opinion waxes.

  6. نفسي فداؤُك يومَ أش

    به أورقَ القوم الأبلُّ

    You are the one who has borne the partisans’ opinion until they became independent,

    After abasement had subjugated them, so they were relieved or went astray.

  7. إذْ كلُّ رأيٍ آفلٌ

    وهلالُ رأيك يستَهلُّ

    Were you not the healer for them, there they would not have

    Fared well. You girded up toward their enemy, and you are like hearing from eternity!

  8. أنت الذي نعشَ الموا

    ليَ رأيُهُ حتى استقلّوا

    And they followed you in the ways of integrity, then they girded up, and then ignited.

    And many a girded one is dragged by his train that flaps!

  9. من بعدِ ما كَبتِ الجدو

    دُ بِهم فأشفَوا أو أضلّو

    So they bent their structures with inaccessible high spirit that does not accept humiliation.

    With you the sharp sword succeeded, and the balanced spear succeeded.

  10. لو لم تكن أنت الطبي

    بَ لهم هنالك ما أبلُّوا

    Were it not for you, they would have deviated from the positions of a group who have deviated and gone astray.

    But you showed them the guidance with your signs that do not lead astray

  11. شمَّرْتَ نحوَ عدوِّهم

    وكأنّك السِّمعُ الأزلُّ

    And you tied against the enemies knots that cannot be undone.

    Those by which, when she disputed, thrones of his state shook!

  12. وتلَوْك في سَنن الرشا

    د فشمَّروا ثم اشمعلُّوا

    The hand of the whistler piped; rather it was paralyzed while it deserved to be paralyzed!

    You threw blackness—therein you have come to a grave matter—

  13. ولربَّ شِمّيرٍ يُجَر

    رُ بعقْبهِ الذيلُ الرّفلُّ

    When only the time for it to be bound had come!

    You filled those who longed for the encounter and did not pall,

  14. فثنوْا أعنَّتهم بعزْ

    زٍ باذخٍ لا يستذلُّ

    And consoled them, while from them he had unquenchable anguish in his breast that cannot be endured!

    He sees the bare earth while he has no place in which he settles,

  15. بك أفلح السيفُ الحسا

    مُ وأنجحَ الرمحُ المِتَلُّ

    And he sees the limbs of his body, and its most hidden are exposed to him.

    He feels no safety from precautions,

  16. لولاك جارا عن مقا

    تِل معشرٍ جارُوا وضلُّوا

    Neither in night lodging nor in shaded places.

    While he was in an army, like a mountain, intertwined, when it was said, “Leave!”

  17. لكن أريتَهُما الهدى

    بمعالم لك لا تضلُّ

    His troops were many, but you wiped them out, so they were few

    And you struck them with swords of hands whose sheaths do not slip,

  18. وعقدْتَ من عُقد المكا

    يدِ للعِدا ما لا يُحلُّ

    Were their lower edges made to quake, swords the color of slate would be seen in them!

    Long has the many prevailed over the smaller number with them, the fewest .

  19. تلك التي من زاولتْ

    فعروش دولتِه تُثَلُّ

    Were it not for her who proved valiant, the swords of India would not suffice!

    She instituted laws for beasts of prey in which there were soft ground and high ground.

  20. صفرَتْ يدُ الصفار بل

    شُلَّتْ وحُقُ لها تشلُّ

    So the group of rebels conformed as if they were cattle driven along!

    They turned away, and the love of piercing them from behind was permitted.

  21. أرمَتْ سواداً أنتَ في

    ه لقد أتتْ أمراً يجلُّ

    While the earth was watered from their bloodshed, so it was saturated or muddied.

    In each region among them there was a hero for his tribe who was assaulted.

  22. ما أُطلقتْ في ذاك إل

    لا حين آن لها تُغَلُّ

    They blamed each other and sang what they had gone astray from.

    You still remain a star by which guidance is taken in darkness and inference made.

  23. ملَّ الذينَ اشتاقهُم

    عند اللقاءِ ولم يملّوا

    A sold anchorage of resolutions for kings—your resolution being a knot and necklace,

    A spring of wisdom from which correctness is drawn and filled up.

  24. وسلاهمُ وبصدْرِهِ

    منهم غليلٌ لا يُبَلُّ

    In the shade of a life in which there remains, of bliss, a shade over it.

    Its superfluities add luxury to it, so through it one lives well and takes shade!

  25. ولَّى يرى الأرضَ العري

    ضةَ ماله فيها محلُّ

  26. ويرى جوارحَ جسمه

    وأخفُّهن عليه كَلُّ

  27. لا يطمئن من الحِذا

    رِ بهِ المبيتُ ولا المظلُّ

  28. بيْنَاه في جيشٍ كرُك

    نِ مُتالع إذ قيل فلُّ

  29. كثرَ الثرى بجنوده

    لكنْ محقْتَهمُ فقلّوا

  30. وضربْتَهم بسيوفِ كي

    دٍ مُغمداتٍ لا تُسلُّ

  31. لو هزَّ أدناها الأشلْ

    لُ فرى الحديدَ بها الأشلُّ

  32. قد طال ما غلب الكثي

    رَ من العديد بها الأقلُّ

  33. لولا الذي أبْلَتْ لما

    أغنى سيوفَ الهند سلُّ

  34. شرعتْ شرائعَ للظُّبا

    فيها لها نهْلٌ وعَلُّ

  35. فانصاع جمعُ المارقي

    ن كأنَّهُم نَعَمٌ تُشَلُّ

  36. ولّوا وحَبُّ قُلوبهم

    بالطَّعْن من دبرُ يحلُّ

  37. والأرضُ تُسْقى من دما

    ئِهمُ فتُوبَلُ أو تُطلُّ

  38. فبكل قاعٍ منهمُ

    بطلٌ لجبهتِه يُتَلُّ

  39. يَتلاومون وينشدو

    ن من الهوادةِ ما أضلّوا

  40. لا زلْتَ نجماً يُهتدَى

    بك في الظلام ويُستدلُّ

  41. مِرْدَى خطوبٍ للملو

    ك برأيهِ عَقْدٌ وحَلُّ

  42. ينبوعَ حزمٍ يُستقى

    منه الصوابُ ويستملُّ

  43. في ظل عيش لا يزا

    ل من النعيم عليهِ ظِلُّ

  44. تَضْفو عليك فُضُولُه

    فيُعاشُ فيه ويُستظلُّ
