1. Ah, many a hideous woman, relentless in whoring,

    gently ensnares men of depravity.

  2. Yet how can the sons of Adam lie with her,

when even the jinn recoil from her deformity?

  3. She says, “God’s hands are outstretched,

and I earn my living from the alms-tax on cocks.

  4. By God, all my crowd are righteous men,

    sowing wheat—even into rock.

  5. My wine and burning incense are supplied by those

forever devoted to silk or to liquor.

  6. The kohl and rouge upon her face,

and her jingling ornaments, are false witnesses.

  7. Her limbs themselves cry out to be severed,

as though she had been fashioned from droppings.”
