  1. ملكتم يا بني العباس عن قَدَرٍ

    بغير حقٍّ ولا فضْلٍ على أحدِ

    You have unjustly assumed power, O Abbasids

    Without right or merit over anyone

  2. تُقدَّمونَ أمام الناس كلِّهمُ

    وأنتُمُ يا بني العباس كالنَّقَدِ

    You put yourselves forward before all people

    Yet you, O Abbasids, are like false coins

  3. شبهتكم إن بغى باغٍ لكم مثلاً

    صُغرى الأصابع تُثْني أوَّلَ العددِ

    If one who wishes ill upon you wanted a parable

    It would be the smallest fingers that bend the first joint
