لابنَةِ الوائليِّ وَسوَاسُ حَليٍ

آخرَ الليل فوقَ صدرٍ خَليِّ

Daughter of Al-Wail and whim of anklet

End of night above an empty chest

ولمن تَيَّمتْهُ وسواسُ هَمٍّ

سائرَ الليلِ تحتَ صدرٍ شجيِّ

And for whom has worried the whim of sorrow

All night under an aching chest
