خَسَأْتُ كلباً مرَّ بي مرةً

فقال مهلاً يا أخا خالدِ

I drove off dogs that once passed me by.

Then someone said, “Easy—O brother of Khalid!”

حسبُكم خِزْياً بني آدم

شِرْكتُكم إياه في والدِ

Disgrace enough for you, O sons of Adam,

is that you share a father with him.
