We have a friend who claims we owe him gratitude
for the bounty of semen deposited in him.
He scorns none of the cocks that come to him,
whether from a generous man or from a boy.
Like a road thrown open to all mankind,
where the worthy and the lowly pass alike.
I never thought that God—glory be to Him—
would join all that is in him with hatred of the Prophet.
He makes Time his creed—if only
that were not in him, and he were merely a fool.
