I resented you for one sin after another

Though had you been good, resentment would have been gratitude

My nature is of the nature of the earth, so know

I reap mischief when mischief you sow

Had you not been, for you good things the land

To grow ruin and reap sterility

I repay good with good if I do good

And evil with evil if I do wrong

I do not reward kindness with ingratitude

    Nor repay gratitude with rejection

Resentment is called a flaw yet it is praise

Just as they call the bitter truth sour
