1. تُفيء الأُيورُ على أهلها

    من الغُنم ما لا تفيء الرماحُ

    The shepherds return to their abode

    With sheep not taken by the spears

  2. بعينيك فرسانُها الذائدو

    ن عن بَيْضة الملك لا تُسبتاحُ

    With your eyes the horsemen repel

    The foe from the nest of the king's egg

  3. جياعاً نِياعاً ذوي فاقة

    يُباع لهم بالبتات السلاحُ

    Starving and meager the destitute

    For them weapons sold for peanuts

  4. وأنت ابن خلِّ وراقوده

    إلى بابك المفتدى والمُرَاحُ

    While you, son of indolence and sloth

    To your gate come the ransomed and relieved
