1. عيدٌ يعود كعود عُرفك دائما

    نلقاك فيه مثلَ عرضك سالما

    A feast that recurs like your enduring nobility

    We meet you in it as sound as your integrity

  2. تُعطي فيهدم جودُ كفك ثروةً

    وتشيد أنت معالياً ومكارما

    You give in it, your generous palm’s bounty demolishes

    And you build glories and virtues yourself

  3. ولعلَّ ما تلقي لمجدٍ بانيا

    إلا امرءاً أضحى لمالٍ هادما

    Perhaps what you find for a building glory

    Is only a man who became a demolisher of wealth

  4. وجرت ظباؤك للوَلِيِّ أَيامِناً

    سُنُح الوجوه وللعدوِّ أشائِما

    Your gazelles have passed days for the loyal

    Beautiful faces and for the enemy ill omens

  5. وطرفْتَ عيناً لا تزال لها قذىً

    ووطئت أنفاً من حسودك راغما

    And your eye glanced at one who still has a speck in it

    And stepped on the nose of your envious underfoot

  6. ورأت أبا العباس عينُك بالغاً

    ما قد بلغتَ مُحارباً ومُسالما

    Your eye saw Al-Abbas reaching

    What you have reached as a fighter and reconciler

  7. وأخاه هارون الذي أضحى له

    في الصالحات مُشاكلاً وملائما

    And his brother Harun whom virtues

    Became congenial and harmonious with

  8. أخوان أيهما بلوتَ وجدْتَه

    في كل نائبة مفيداً عاصما

    Two brothers, whichever you tested, you found

    In every calamity, beneficial and protecting

  9. وإذا هما عند الفعال تَباريا

    فكأنما بارَى ابنُ مامةَ حاتما

    And if they compete in deeds

    It's as if Ibn Mama's Hatem competed in generosity

  10. الأحسنَين ظِهارةً وبِطانةً

    والأطْيبين مَشارباً ومَطاعما

    The best allies and confidants

    And the most fragrant in drink and food

  11. الألينين مَلامساً ومعاطفاً

    والأصلبين مَغامِزاً ومعاجما

    The gentlest to the touch and cloaks

    And the firmest in pinches and arguments

  12. تلقى أبا العباس بدراً طالعاً

    وشقيقَه هارون نَجماً ناجما

    You find Al-Abbas a rising full moon

    And his brother Harun, an ascending star

  13. وأباهُما شمساً تُمدُّ بنورها

    نوريهما أبداً مِداداً دائما

    And their father a sun extending with its light

    Their two lights forever flowing

  14. وشقيقةٍ قالت أراك مُفكراً

    حتى أراك من السكينة نائما

    And a sister who said, I see you pensive

    Until I see you asleep from tranquility

  15. فأجبتُها إني امرؤٌ هيامَةٌ

    في كل وادٍ ما أُفيقُ هَماهِما

    So I told her that I am a passionate man

    Lost in every valley, not awakened from their worries

  16. أُمسي وأصبحُ للشوارِد طالباً

    بهواجسٍ حول الأوابد حائما

    I spend my nights and days seeking the absent

    With anxieties roaming around ruins

  17. متوخياً حظي بذاك مؤدياً

    فرضاً لخيرِ الطاهريّة لازما

    Aiming for my fortune thereby fulfilling

    A duty to the good of the Tayy clan

  18. ملكٌ يُطيع الجودَ في أمواله

    عند السؤالِ ولا يُطيعُ اللائما

    A king who obeys generosity in his money

    When asked and does not obey the critic

  19. ما زال يحبوني الجزيلَ وإنما

    أحبوه مدحي صادقاً لا زاعما

    They still love me the abundant but

    They loved my sincere praise, not pretentious

  20. ومتى يقومُ بحق مدحك شاعرٌ

    حتى يُرى في كلّ وادٍ هائما

    And when will a poet rise to your praise

    To be seen lost in every valley

  21. يا ابنَ الأُلى لم يوجَدوا إلا وهُمْ

    عظماءُ دهرٍ يدفعون عظائما

    O son of the exalted, they were not found

    Except as the mighty of an era, repelling mighty feats

  22. وابنَ الأُلى لم يعدُ دهرٌ طورَه

    إلا غدوا خُطماً له وخزائما

    And son of the exalted, an era did not pass

    Except they charged its noses and mouths

  23. الناكلين عن المآثِم والخنا

    و النافذين بصائراً وعزائما

    Forbidding sins and betrayal

    And wise and resolute

  24. أعني عبيد اللَّه خيرَ عبيده

    إلا أئمتنا العظامَ جراثما

    I mean the servants of God, the best of His servants

    Except for our great imams, steadfast

  25. يا مَنْ يُحِبّ المجدَ حبّاً صادقاً

    ويرى مغارمَه الثقالَ مغانما

    O you who love genuine glory

    And see its heavy burdens as spoils

  26. يا من إذا كُسِيَ المديحَ معاشِرٌ

    حلياً لهم كُسي المديح تمائما

    O you who, when praised in gatherings

    Are adorned with praise like amulets

  27. عُوذاً لأخلاق وخَلْقٍ أصبحا

    في الحُسن أمثالاً لنا ومعالما

    Protection for morals and nature that have become

    Paragons and signs for us in beauty

  28. عجباً لمن نسي العواقبَ جوده

    نسيانَ جودِك كيف يُدعى حازما

    Wondrous is he who forgot the consequences of his generosity

    Forgetting your generosity, how can he be called wise?

  29. ولمن عفا عمن هفا متمادياً

    يوما كعفوك كيف يُدعى صارما

    And who pardoned extensively, transgressing

    A day like your pardon, how can he be called firm?

  30. ولمن سَقَى مُهجَ النفوسِ سيوفَهُ

    عللاً كسقيك كيفَ يُدعَى راحما

    And who quenched souls’ thirst with his swords

    Like your quenching, how can he be called merciful?

  31. ولمن حمى الدنيا حمايتكَ التي

    شَهرتْك كيف يُعدُّ غيثاً ساجما

    And who protected the world like your protection that

    Made you famous, how can he be called a pouring rain?

  32. لكنك الرجل الذي لم نَلْقَه

    إلا على سنن المحجة قائما

    But you are the man we never met

    Except established on the ways of truth

  33. تأتي الأمورَ وتتقي إتيانها

    طَبَّاً بما تأتي وتترك عالما

    Matters come to pass and you avoid their coming

    Congratulations for what comes and what leaves you knowing

  34. تعطي وتمنع ما اعتديتَ وتارةً

    تعفو وتبطشُ مُنصفاً لا ظالما

    You give and withhold when you desire and sometimes

    Pardon and lash out, just not unjust

  35. لم تَقْرِ إبهاميك فاك ندامةً

    يوماً إذا عضّ الرجالُ أَباهما

    Your thumb never settled out of regret

    When men bit their father

  36. كم قد عفوْتَ فما أبحْتَ محارماً

    بلْ كم بطشْتَ فما انتهكت محارما

    How much you pardoned without disclosing sanctities

    Rather, how much you lashed out without violating sanctities

  37. كم قد منحْتَ فما أضعْت منيحةً

    بل كم منعتَ مُحامياً لا حارما

    How much you gave without losing a gift

    Rather, how much you withheld, defending, not prohibiting

  38. يا آل طاهر المُطهَّر كاسمه

    لا تعدموا نعماً ترفُّ نواعما

    O Family of Tahir, purified as his name

    Never devoid of bounty, gentle and pliant

  39. قد قلتُ للمتكلّفي مَسعاتِكم

    إن الخوافي لن تكون قوادما

    I said to those pretending your hearing

    The hidden will never be immigrating

  40. سُدتم فكنتم للوجوه معاطساً

    شُمّاً وكنتم للرؤوس جماجما

    You were closed, so you were nostrils to the faces

    And you were skulls to the heads

  41. فإذا وُزنتم بالأباعدِ منكُمُ

    كنتم ذُرىً والآخرون مَناسما

    So if you are weighed with the distant ones among you

    You would be motes and the others statues
