1. أنَّى تشاغلتَ عن أبي حَسَنِكْ

    مُستفسداً ما امتننتَ من مِنَنِكْ

    How could you be distracted from your beloved Hasan

    Ruining what you gained of his favors?

  2. أيَّ جناياته اضطغنتَ له

    فليس هذا أوانَ مضطغنكْ

    What crime of his made you angry with him?

    This is not the time for your anger.

  3. يا قادماً سرَّني بمَقْدمه

    قد ساءني ما أراه من ظَعنِكْ

    O you who came and pleased me with your arrival

    Yet I disliked what I saw of your grudge.

  4. أشكيتني بعد نعمةٍ حَسَمَتْ

    شكواي صرفَ الزمانِ في زمنِكْ

    You blamed me after a favor that ended

    My complaint diverted the days in your time.

  5. تركتني ضاحياً بمُرْتَمَضٍ

    وكنتُ تحت الظليل من فَنَنِكْ

    You left me suffering sleeplessness

    While I was shaded by your care.

  6. يا أعذبَ الماءِ لِمْ أسنتَ على

    مَنْ حقُّه أن يُعاذَ من أسنِك

    O sweetest water, why did you harm

    He who rightly should be saved from your harm?

  7. من ذا تنصَّحتَ من ثقاتِك في

    صرمي وماذا أطعتَ من ظننِك

    Whom of your trusted did you take advice from

    In estranging me? What did you obey of your doubts?

  8. لأيّ جُرمٍ غدوتَ تَلْفظُني

    وكنتُ أحلى لديك من وسنِك

    For what sin did you start spitting me out

    When I was sweeter to you than your tooth?

  9. متى تقاعستُ عن لجامِك أو

    خلعتُ رأسَ المُطيع من رسنِك

    When did I refrain from your reins or

    Take off the head of the obedient from your string?

  10. ألم أكن في حروبِك البطل ال

    مَبلِيَّ والمستشارَ في هُدنِك

    Was I not the brave hero in your wars

    The adviser in your peace and your iron swords,

  11. ألم أكنْ من سيوفِك القَلعي

    ياتِ وإن شئتَ كنتُ من جُننك

    Abasing myself, debasing myself

    In what I desired of your tasks?

  12. مبتذلاً أنفَسي وممتهناً

    نفسي فيما هويت من مَهنِك

    O Most Forgiving and tolerant in

    Generosity, where is the welcome of your gift?

  13. يا واسعَ العفْوِ والمذاهبِ في ال

    إفضالِ أين الرحيبُ من عطنك

    If the favors I gained were not

    In my gratitude, they are still in your favors.

  14. إلا يكنْ ما امتننت من مننٍ

    في مُنَّتي حملُها ففي مُنَنك

    O best of manners, morals and

    Deeds, how did you deviate from your ways?

  15. يا حَسن الخلْقِ والخلائقِ وال

    أفعالِ أنَّى عدلتَ عن سَننك

    If I erred or did wrong, do not

    Expose my ugliness as such over your good looks.

  16. إن كنت أخطأتُ أو أسأتُ فلا

    يظهر قبيحي كذا على حَسنك

    Overcome it with your beautiful deed in me

    For my deficiencies are hidden in your bounty.

  17. غلِّبْ عليه جميلَ فعلِك بي

    إنَّ هناتي تغيب في شحنك

    Our eyes have a master, so return from your hatred

    Of me and yourself, so stop your hatred.

  18. أعْيَنُنا سيّدٌ لأحْوَصنا

    منك ومنِّي فعدّ عن إحنك

    If integrity was absent from my star

    Beautiful will not be absent from your eyes.

  19. إن كان غابَ الصوابُ عن حَوصي

    فلن يغيبَ الجميلُ عن عَيَنِك

    O wonder at a despicable tester

    If he ever prevails over your noble tester!

  20. يا عجباً من لئيم مُمتحَني

    إن عزّ يوماً كريمَ ممتحنك

    In your discarding me, complaining increased

    And that was not of your traits.

  21. قد زاد في شكوى إِطِّراحُك إي

    يايَ وما كان ذاك من سُننِك

    Praise be to God, you were of my misfortunes

    And I was not among your misfortunes then.

  22. الحمدُ للَّهِ كنتَ من فِتني

    ولم أكنْ عندَ ذاك من فِتنك

    You became preoccupied with my worries

    While I do not preoccupy your worries.

  23. أصبحتَ فيما يُعدُّ من شجني

    ولستُ فيما يُعدُّ من شجنك

    My complaints were long but you did not care

    Nor did you restrain the hand of agony to your chin.

  24. طالت شكاتي فما اكترثتَ ولا

    ألجاتَ كفَّ الأسى إلى ذقَنك

    Rather, you kept touring the lands without

    Deigning to take a stroll to your abode.

  25. بل ظلتَ تستعرضُ البقاعَ ولا

    تسخى بتعريجةٍ إلى سكنِكْ

    The place of your secrets that Al-Murtada

    Your minister kept and trusted in you.

  26. موضعِ أسرارِكَ التي سُترتْ

    وزيركَ المرتضي ومؤتمنِكْ

    Oh what a loss! I did not know

    That my worries only increase your annoyance.

  27. يا حسرتا ما أحطتُ معرفةً

    بأنَّ شجوي يزيدُ في أرنك

    And I used to beseech God for intimacy

    No! Rather, nearness that increases your fatness.

  28. وكنتُ أستوهبُ الإله ضنىً

    لا بل نُحُولاً يزيد في سمنك

    O poet, treat your friend among your

    Possessions. Did you not learn from your imams

  29. يا شاعراً يرْعوي لدِمنته

    هلّا جعلتَ الصديق من دِمَنك

    That the most deserving of your sadness

    Is one who seeks refuge in God from your sadness?

  30. أما تلقَّنتْ عن أئمَّتك ال

    زهرِ بذاك الصحيح من لَعَنِك

    If you sold me, then I am cheated but not you

    I cry and weep while you are not cheated.

  31. إنَّ أحقَّ امرئٍ حَزنْتَ له

    من يستعيذُ الإلَهَ من حَزنِك

    You blame me while I have no substitute

    For you when I depart from your meadow.

  32. إن تكُ قد بِعْتَني فمن غَبني

    أُبكَى وأبكي وليس من غبنك

    And what is more piercing than my price

    And what is more glorious than your price?

  33. تعتاضُ منّي وليس لي عِوضٌ

    منك متى ما خرجتُ من قرنك

    I pawned my heart to you so preserve it

    And do good to your pawn.

  34. وأيُّ شيءٍ أدقُّ من ثمني

    وأيُّ شيءٍ أجلُّ من ثمنِك

    Do not test me by denying me your face

    For I have no patience for your ordeal.

  35. قد ارتهنتُ الفؤادَ عندك فاح

    فظْهُ وأحسِنْ جوار مُرتَهنك

    It is not just to torture me

    With estrangement after appearing in your adornment.

  36. لا تمتحنّي بمنع وجهك عي

    نيَّ فلا صبرَ لي على مِحنك

    And when I attained from you I said it suffices me

    So stick to your idol.

  37. ليس من العدلِ أن تعذّبني

    بالهجرِ بعد الظهورِ في زِينك

    You do not see the sun but as gloomy

    So do not shine your eyes from your concealment.

  38. ونائلٍ منك قلتُ حسبيَ بال

    لَهِ إلهاً فاعكُف على وَثَنك

    May God wrap you in the wrappers of

    Your water until you are wrapped in your shroud.

  39. لستَ ترى الشمسَ غيرَ مُظلمةٍ

    فلا انجلى ناظراكَ من كمنك

    That is a generous one I see you striving

    To attain him flat on your chest.

  40. ولفَّكَ اللَّهُ في لفائفِ غم

    مائكَ حتى تُلفَّ في كفنك

    O wonder at an arrogant fool

    Who compares his chicks to your breast!

  41. ذاك جوادٌ أراكَ مجتهداً

    تطلبه واطئاً على ثُنَنك

    How can one compete with you in your procession

    Or your standard from your right?

  42. يا عجباً من مُفاخرٍ حَمقٍ

    يقيسُ أحفاشَهُ إلى حَضنك

    And who can compete with a man whose pride

    Is like the polished sword of Dhi Yazan's son?

  43. أنَّى يُساميك في صليبة أح

    رارِك أو مُعتفيكِ من يمنِكْ

    Looking at you in your noble inattention

    Not your glittering one from your radiance.

  44. ومن يسامي امرأً ومُعتقُهُ

    كسيفٍ المِقْوَلِ ابنِ ذي يزنِك

    Excuse Hamid if you allowed it

    And forgive his sins in your ear.

  45. دُونَكَهَا ناظراً بغَفْلَتكَ ال

    حرَّةِ لا الألمعيِّ من طبنِك

    He says praise of you while our saying

    Where is that impudence from your curse?

  46. واعذرْ حميداً إذا أذِنتَ لها

    واغفرْ خطيئاتها لدى أذنِكْ

    Thus he transgresses a bead for you and if

    You willed by a right he would be of your curses.

  47. يقولُ فيك المديحَ قائلُنا

    وأينَ ذاك الضِّياح من لَبنِك

    I am amazed by a weaver whose weaving

    He prepared to your Eden.

  48. فيغتدي سُبحةً لفيك ولو

    شِئتَ بحقٍّ لكان من لُعَنك

    No! But of the just ones from you, even if

    They disagree with Al-Radi from your blessings.

  49. عجْبتُ من ناسجٍ نسائجَهُ

    جهَّزَ أبرادَهُ إلى عَدَنك

    A praiser sends you eternal gifts

    While the eternal ones are from your wisdom.

  50. لا بل من العادلين عنك وإن

    حاكوا خِلاف الرضيّ من يُمُنِك

    So you wear them gloriously the perfume of

    Clay, they do not complain of your harm.

  51. يُهدِي لك الآبداتِ ممتدحٌ

    وإنما الآبداتُ من فِطنك

    Blessed is a gift sent to you that you wore

    Blessed is a flag raised upon your body.

  52. فتكتسيهنّ ماجداً عِطر ال

    طِينةِ لا يشتكينَ من درنِك

    You are still for people a pouring raincloud

    Your bucket for seekers in your shore.

  53. طوبى لمُهدٍ إليك خِلْعتَهُ

    طوبى لمنشورةٍ على بدنك

    You lend us customs with praise and

    Count the good loans from your eye.

  54. لا زلتَ للناس موْرداً غَدِقاً

    دلْوُكَ للمستقين في شَطنك

    How many expatriations made you content in a land

    You chose for glory over your land?

  55. تُقرضنا العرفَ بالثناءِ وتع

    تدُّ زكيَّ القروضِ من عَيَنك

    You knew the elite are in the stomach of

    Guests so you chose them over your stomach.

  56. كم غُرْبةٍ آنستْك في وطنٍ

    للمجدِ آثرتَها على وطنك

    I say to fate when I saw your achievements

    Like beauty from your burdens:

  57. علِمتَ أن الخيار في بِطَن ال

    أضيافِ فاخترتها على بِطَنك

    O fate, marry him to the generous ladies of your bounty

    And drive away those harms from his waist.

  58. أقول للدهر إذ بصرتُ بمك

    نونِك مثل الجميلِ من عَلَنك

    My saying is poor toward your winds

    Content with what was displayed from your ships.

  59. يا دهرُ زوِّجه من كرائمك ال

    نَعماءَ وادفعْ أذاكَ عن خَتَنك

    So grant me favor in your answer to me

    And pardon me if you saw from your tongue.

  60. قدْحي فقيرٌ إلى رياشك مس

    تغنٍ بما قد براه من سَفَنكِ

  61. فامنحنيَ العطفَ في جوابك لي

    وأعفني إن رأيت من لَسَنك
