ألم تر أن المال يهلك أهله

إذا جمّ آتيه وسُدَّ طريقُهُ

Do you not see that wealth destroys its owner

When it accumulates and its route is blocked?

ومن جاور الماء الغزير مجمُّهُ

وسد سبيل الماء فهو غريقه

And whoever dwells near abundant water dams it

And blocks the water's path - he will drown in it
