1. تجري المحاسنُ من قرونِ رؤوسها

    حتى تمسَّ قُرونُها الأقْداما

    The beauties flow from the tips of their tresses

    Until their tips touch the feet

  2. ما أَبْصرتْ عيناي قبلَ وجوهها

    وفروعها نوراً يُقلُّ ظلاما

    My eyes have never seen before their faces

    And their branches, a light that lessens the darkness

  3. من كل ناعمةِ الشباب غريرةٍ

    تَسبي العقولَ وتزدهي الأحلاما

    From every delicate youthful maiden

    Who captivates minds and excites dreams

  4. في سُنَّةِ القمرِ التمامِ وسِنِّه

    واحسبْ لياليَه لها أعواما

    In the fullness of the moon's phase and its years

    And count its nights as years for it
