ما رأى الناسُ كابنِ هرثمةَ العا

جزِ في فرط جُبْنِهِ مِنْ شبيهِ

None have seen a coward like Ibn Harthama

Excessive in his cowardice, he had no peer

عائذٌ دهرَهُ إذا سطع النَّقْ

عُ بمعنى مُصَحَّفِ اسمِ أبيه

His lifetime he took refuge whenever perils gleamed

With his father's name misspelt, as was made clear
