O Ibn Būrān, O you who are my sacrifice
You lived in bliss and comfort
With delight, with delight, do not make
Your mother's worries soar to the Highest
Miriam violated chastity, so when
She resisted her, she turned to Eve
She then slipped into adultery, multiplying the passions of Eve
Numerous daughters and sons
How can I satirize a man who is both noble and vile
The successor of one mother, the heir of fathers
How can I satirize one who fluctuates between diverse
Groups, neither this one nor that one
How can I satirize one in whom is gathered
Lineages of birds and the meeting place of the living
Rather, I enjoy your struggles in
Your poetry, O son of the blond bakery
It's as if I see you in the thick of thought
Pursuing the breath of the arduous climb
Dusty, as if you were in something—
Alas! A waste for that hardship
And it's as if I see you crying "Oh!"
Chiding poetry in the presence of the rabble
Enticing their hearing to my satire
With howling modulated by winds
They roared while you recoiled like a he-goat
And they clung like sheep
So satirize me—your satire to me
Is but laughter that increases in joy
I am in bliss with it and delight
Filling my chest while you are in desolation
And it is impossible that the happy are made joyous
By fate unless through the misery of the wretched
I will satirize you if you fall silent, and excuse you
If you satirize me for my satire
Nothing can save you from my hand
Even if you were in the heavenly constellations
And by God, I will play with your peers
Between blindness and deafness
Satire you, praise you, taking
You as an amusement and target of derision
