تَبحَّثتُ عن أخباره فكأنما

نَبَشْتُ صداه بعد ثالثة الدَّفْنِ

I sought news of him as though

I exhumed his echo after the third burial

تَضَوَّعتِ الأنباءُ عنه بنفحةٍ

زويتُ لها وجهي من الخُبث والنتنِ

The news of him was imbued with a fragrance

To which I inclined my face, away from malice and stench
