يا أيها الرجل المُدَلِّسُ نفسَه
في جملةِ الكُرَماء والأدباءِ
O you disguised man
Among the generous and courteous
بالبيتِ يُنْشِدُ رُبعَه أو نصفَه
والخبزِ يُرزَأُ عنده والماءِ
With verses he recites to his friends and companions
Yet bread and water he withholds from them
تدليسه عند الكواعب لمَّةً
مخضوبةً بالخِطْر والحنّاءِ
His deception charms the fair ladies
Dyed with henna and intrigue
لا تكذبنَّ فإن لُؤمكَ ناصلٌ
كنُصولِ تلك اللِّمّةِ الشمطاءِ
Do not lie, for your defects are evident
Like the horns of that horned viper
