My tongue still praises you in poetry
In verse that gives no rest or peace to me
And my debts to you, under your shade
Make my eloquent tongue rail against thee
Yet to chastise me kindly for this fault
Would be better than harshness, I agree
Let people see me only in a state
Of joy and ease, not in misery
I wonder if my troubles will not fade
Through your kindness - will fate set me free?
Surely your kindness that excuses me
And patience, grant no relief or glee
That you see custom as naught to one like me
Yet praise of you seems like glorifying Thee
