إذا ما شئتَ أنْ تَعْر

ف يوماً كَذبَ الشهوَهْ

If you wish to know one day

the falsehood of desire

فكُلْ ما شئتَ يصْدُدْكَ

عن العَذْبة والحُلوهْ

Then eat whatever you wish that turns you away

From sweetness and delicacy

وطأ مَنْ شئتَ يَصْدُدْكَ

عن الحسناء في الذِّروَهْ

And tread wherever you wish that turns you away

From the beautiful one at the peak

وكَمْ أسلاكَ ما تهوا

هُ نَيلُ الشيء لم تَهْوَهْ

And how often what you craved

Its attainment you did not crave
