1. ما أنس لا أنس هنداً آخر الحقبِ

    على اختلاف صروف الدهر والعُقُبِ

    I do not forget another India at the end of time

    Despite the vicissitudes of fate and turns of fortune

  2. يومَ انْتَحَتْني بسهميها مُسالمةً

    تأتي جدائِدُها من أوجه اللَّعِبِ

    The day she greeted me with her glances in friendship

    Her coyness comes from the faces of playfulness

  3. وعيَّرتني بشيب الرأس ضاحكةً

    مِن ضاحكٍ فيه أبكاني وأَضْحَكَ بي

    She mocked my gray hair laughing

    With a laugh that made me laugh and cry

  4. قد كنتِ تسقينَ خدّي مرةً وفمي

    يا هندُ من وَشَلٍ طوراً ومن ثَغَبِ

    She once gave water to my cheek and mouth

    O India, from a wineskin, then from a waterskin

  5. يَعُلُّ ريقُك أنيابي وآونةً

    يستنُّ دمعُكِ في خَدَّيَّ كالسَّربِ

    Your saliva whet my fangs at times

    Your tears used to hang on my cheek like a necklace

  6. فالآن أهزأَ بي شيبي وأَوْبقني

    عيبي وإن كنت لم أُوبَق ولم أُعَبِ

    But now she mocks my grayness that ruined me

    Reproaching me for my shame though I'm not disgraced or shamed

  7. بالجِلْد أندابْ دهرٍ لست أنكرها

    وما بعرضي لعمرُ اللَّه من نَدَب

    With age that built then destroyed me

    Until I walked with a limp like a curved branch

  8. يا ظبيةً من ظباءٍ كان مَكْنسُها

    في ظلِّ ذي ثمرٍ مني وذي هَدَبِ

    And returned my head to the color of its time

    After darkness it's become like gray hair

  9. فِيئِي إليك فقد هَبَّت مُصوّحةٌ

    أضحى لها مجتَنِي لهوٍ كمحتطِبِ

    And time wears out the youth as it raises him

    Until the night of burial turns back to him

  10. سِنٌّ بَنَتْني وعادتْ بعد تهدِمني

    حتى رزَحتُ رزوح العَوْدِ ذي الجَلَبِ

    Feeding him at all times as it eats him

    And sipping his sap like a shepherd sips milk

  11. وأعْدَتِ الرأسَ لَوْنَيْ دهرِهِ فغدا

    قد حال عن دُهمةٍ كانت إلى شَهَبِ

    It changes his state again and again from his youth

    Seeping like water from a saturated book

  12. والدهرُ يُبلي الفتى من حيث يُنشئُهُ

    حتى تَكُرَّ عليه ليلةُ القَرَبِ

    While he is like a plucked flower it dried him

    And returned like a plucked chicken with ruffled feathers

  13. يَغذوه في كل حينٍ وهو يأكله

    ويحتسي نُغَباً منه على نغبِ

    Marvel at the safety of a treacherous fate

    That strips him leaf by leaf, and branch by branch

  14. يُودي بحالٍ فحالٍ من شبيبته

    تسرُّبَ الماء من مستأنَفِ الكُتَبِ

    The lot of a man from the yield of fate that tries him

    Is enough even if he's not ruined or shamed

  15. بَيْناهُ كالأجدل الغِطريف ماطَلَهُ

    عصراهُ فارتد مثل الفرخ ذي الزَّغبِ

    I lament with my skin the days I don't deny

    And my honor by God is without blemish or defect

  16. أَعْجِبْ بآمِنِ دهرٍ وهو مُبترِكٌ

    يُعريه من ورقٍ طوراً ومن نَجَبِ

    O doe, whose bedding was in the shade

    Of a fruitful tree of mine and branches

  17. حسبُ امرىءٍ من جَنى دهرٍ تُطاولُهُ

    وإن أُجِمَّ فلم يُنكَبْ ولم يُنَبِ

    Come back to me, for a she-camel has roared

    And my love for fun became like gathering firewood

  18. في هُدنةِ الدهر كافٍ من وقائِعِهِ

    والعُمرُ أفدح مِبْراةً من الوَصَبِ

    Old age built me up and then destroyed me

    Until I walked with the limp of curved wood

  19. قَضيتُ ذلك في قولي إلى فُنُقٍ

    تلهو بمُكتحِلٍ طوراً ومختضِبِ

    And returned my head to the color of its time

    After darkness, it has become like gray hair

  20. حوراءُ في وَطَفٍ قنواءُ في ذَلَفٍ

    لَفَّاء في هَيَفٍ عجزاءُ في قَبَبِ

    And time wears out the youth from where it raises him

    Until the night of burial turns back to him

  21. كالشمسِ ما سَفَرَتْ والبدر ما انتقبتْ

    ناهيكَ من مُسفِرٍ حُسْناً ومُنتَقِبِ

    It feeds him at all times as it eats him

    And drinks sap from him like a shepherd drinking milk

  22. جاءت تَدَافَعُ في وَشْيٍ لها حَسَنٍ

    تَدَافُعَ الماء في وشيٍ من الحبَبِ

    Changing his state from his youth time after time

    Seeping like water from a saturated book

  23. فأعرضتْ حلوةَ الإعراضِ مُرَّتَهُ

    بزَفرةٍ كنسيم الروض ذي الرَّبَبِ

    While he is like a plucked flower, it dried him out

    And he returned like a plucked chicken, ruffled feathers

  24. تَأْسى على عهديَ الماضي ويُذهِلُها

    تَفوُّقُ العيشِ ذي الأحلاب في العُلَبِ

    I marvel at trusting treacherous fate

    That strips him leaf by leaf and branch by branch

  25. يا ذا الشبابِ الذي أضحتْ مَناسِبُهُ

    قد بُدِّلتْ فيه أنواعاً من النُّدَبِ

    The life of a man from the yield of fate that tries him

    Is enough even if he's not ruined or put to shame

  26. مهلاً فقد عاد ذاك الشرخ واقتربت

    من مُجتنيها الأماني كلَّ مقتربِ

    In the peace of fate, its events suffice

    And life is more ample than a great desert

  27. بآل وهبٍ غدتْ دنيا زمانهمُ

    منصورةً وتغنَّت بعدَ منتحبِ

    I have fulfilled this in my poem to a coquette

    Amusing herself with kohl, at times with dye

  28. وعادت الأرضُ إذ عمَّت مصالحُهم

    دارَ اصطلاحٍ وكانت دارَ مُحتربِ

    A doe-eyed damsel, shapely, flirtatious, agile

    Weak, helpless, like the sunshine or the full moon

  29. قومٌ يحلُّونَ من مجدٍ ومن شرفٍ

    ومن غَناءٍ محلَّ البَيْض واليَلَبِ

    I mean the unveiled beauty, the veiled pulchritude

    With the excellent beauty and hidden perfection

  30. حلُّوا محلَّهُما من كلّ جمجمةٍ

    دَفعاً ونَفعاً وإطلالاً على الرُّتبِ

    She came competing in a mantle that adorned her

    Like water pouring in a vessel of seeds

  31. لا بل هُمُ الرأسُ إذ حسَّادُهم ذنبٌ

    وَمَنْ يُمثِّلُ بين الرأسِ والذنبِ

    So she flaunted the sweetness of coyness

    With a breeze like the garden breeze with pools

  32. تاللَّه ما انفكّتِ الأشياءُ شاحبةً

    حتى جَلَوْها فأضحت وُضَّحَ النُّقَبِ

    Yearning for my past days, confused

    By the life of comfort in luxurious abodes

  33. بهم أطاعَ لنا المعروفُ وامتنعت

    جوانبُ الملك ذي الأركان والشِّذبِ

    O you with youth which circumstances have changed

    And different kinds of sorrows have replaced

  34. كم فيهم من مقيمٍ كُلَّ ذي حَدَبٍ

    من الأمورِ بِرأيٍ غيرِ ذي حَدَبِ

    Wait, for that rift has returned and hopes

    Of achieving wishes have come closer, nearer

  35. ما زال أحمدٌ المحمودُ يحمدهُمْ

    مُذ بُوِّئ التاجَ منه خيرُ مُعْتصبِ

    Through the family of Wahb, their world

    Became victorious, and sang after lamenting

  36. وقبل ذلكَ كانوا يَمْهَدُون له

    وتلكُم القُرْبةُ الكبرى من القُرَبِ

    The land became, with their reform,

    A home of accord, and it had been a home of war

  37. صَغا إليهم وولّاهم أمانتَهُ

    دون الأنام فلم يَرْتَبْ ولم يُرِبِ

    A people who achieved glory, nobility, and riches

    Taking the place of white and spotted (horses)

  38. ما انفكّ تدبيرهُمْ يجري على مَهلٍ

    حتى غدا الصقرُ منصوراً على الخَرَبِ

    They took over their place in every brave tribe

    Giving and benefiting, rising in rank

  39. لو كنتَ تعلم ما أغنى يراعُهُمُ

    أيقنتَ أن القَنَا كَلٌّ على القَصَبِ

    Not detracting from the leader over the necks

    Rather being the head while enviers are the tail

  40. إن كنتُ أذنبتُ في مدحي ذوي ضَعَةٍ

    فمِدْحتي آلَ وهب أنصحُ التُّوَبِ

    And who compares the head to the tail?

    They're a bowl that contained a kingdom, and gave it out

  41. الحارسي الدينَ لا يلهو نهارُهُمُ

    عنه ولا ليلُهم بالنائم الرّقِبِ

    So the kingdom became an undisputed kingdom

    Bestowed upon the most deserving wearer of the crown

  42. الحافظي المُلكَ والحامينَ حَوْزَتَه

    من الأعادي ذوي الأضغان والكَلَبِ

    Even before, they paved the way for him

    That great kinship is the greatest honor

  43. الحالبي لَقَحَاتِ الفيء حافلةً

    بِالرفق واليمن منهم ثَرَّةَ الحَلَبِ

    He listened to them and entrusted them his trust

    Above all people, without doubt or shame

  44. المُجتبو الحمدَ بعد الأجرِ غايتُهم

    صَوْنُ الإمام عن الآثام والسُّبَبِ

    His affairs in their hands always flowed smoothly

    Until the eagle triumphed over the ruins

  45. ومن جبى المال للسلطان دونهمُ

    أعداهُ إثماً وعاراً لازبَ الجَرَبِ

    How much honey their care provided for him

    You would know that reeds are few compared to them

  46. كم نِضْوِ شُكرٍ نَضَوْا عنه وليَّتَهُ

    فظهرُهُ مستريحٌ غيرُ مُعْتقَبِ

    With them, the known duty was made easy

    And the sides of the mighty state were forbidden

  47. وما شكا العُسْرَ بعد اليُسْرِ صاحبُهُم

    ولا تَحَوَّل عن رَحْلٍ إلى قَتَبِ

    How many firm, rational leaders of wisdom

    In every great affair, other than the zealous fools

  48. وما يُريغون بالنُّعمى مكافأةً

    لكن يُقَضُّون ما للمجد من أرَبِ

    However much the ignorant criticize a matter of theirs

    It remains among the wise without question or doubt

  49. أقسمت حقاً لئن طابت ثمارهُمُ

    لقد سرى عِرقُهم في أكرم التُّربِ

    They safeguarded the religion, their day

    Does not neglect it, nor their night sleep in vigilance

  50. دعْ من قوافيك ما يكفيك إن لها

    في مدح مولاكَ شَوْطاً مُلْهَبَ الخَبَبِ

    Protecting the kingdom and guarding its possession

    From hostile enemies, of malice and war

  51. يا سائلي أعْربَ الإحسانُ عن حَسَنٍ

    أبي محمّدٍ المحمودِ في النّوبِ

    Milking the spoils of war abundantly

    With kindness and prosperity for the elite

  52. سألت عنه رفيعَ الذكر قد خطبتْ

    به النباهةُ قبل الشعر والخُطبِ

    Seeking only reward after the reward

    Protecting the imam from sins or causes

  53. أغنى الصباح عن المصباح بل طلعتْ

    شمسُ الضحى تسلك الأسلاك في الثُّقَبِ

    Whoever collected money for the sultan without them

    He wronged and disgraced, the vile and stinking

  54. هلّا سألتَ ثناءً غير مُجتلَبٍ

    أضحى له وفِناءً غيرَ مُجتَنَبِ

    How much honey their care extracted for him

    So his back rested without being stabbed

  55. فتى إذا ما مدحناه أتيحَ له

    من أرضِه المدحُ فاستغنى عن الجلبِ

    And after ease, its owner never complained of hardship with them

    Nor turned from a path to a crime

  56. معروفُهُ في جميع الناس مُقْتسمٌ

    فحمدُهُ في جميع الناس لا العُصَبِ

    And they don't flinch from favors reciprocating them

    Rather they fulfill what is duty of glory

  57. خِرْقٌ حَوَتْ يدُهُ مُلْكاً فجادَ به

    فأصبح الملك ملكاً غير مُغتصَبِ

    How much glory its seeker tied his mount's reins

    And became generous so holders of reins rested

  58. أغرُّ أبلجُ يكسو نَفْسَه حُلَلاً

    من المحامد لا تَبْلى على الحِقَبِ

    They don't cease to give from a perpetual kindness

    More than any newcomer hopes to gain

  59. أمواله في رِقاب الناس من مِننٍ

    لا في الخزائنِ من عَيْنٍ ومن نَشَبِ

    As if it's God's blessing secured for them

    In the eternal paradise from worry and fatigue

  60. فليس يملكُ إلا غيرَ مُنتزَعٍ

    وليس يلبَسُ إلا غيرَ مُستلَبِ

    Sheer and pure, we never knew its source

    The spring of grace, none can exhaust or diminish

  61. كذا المكارمُ ملكٌ لا زوال له

    باقٍ يدوم لباقٍ غيرِ مُنْشَعِبِ

    May God reward you for us with what

    The possessor of grace, height, and purity from flaws is rewarded

  62. ذاك الذي بايَنَ الأسواءَ وانتسبتْ

    إليه بيضُ الأيادي كلَّ منتسَبِ

    We are not surprised, though you surprise us

    That gold is picked from the gold mine

  63. كم شدَّ للسعي في أُكرومةٍ لَبَباً

    أضحى كريماً به مُسترخِيَ اللَّبَبِ

    But we're surprised by gentleness we cannot reward

    And seek from you more, the greatest surprise

  64. ما انفكَّ من سَهَرٍ يُخليكَ من سهرٍ

    كلّا ولا دأَبٍ يُعفيكَ من دَأبِ

    If an insincere person flees from sincere kindness

    Unable to show thanks, we will not flee

  65. مذلَّلٌ للمساعي وهْوَ مُشتمِلٌ

    بالعزِّ في ظلِّ عَيشٍ مُحْصَد الأَشَبِ

    But you're the man who gives kindness and sees

    Leaving the account to you as the best attitude

  66. قد وطَّأ المجدُ للعافي خلائِقَهُ

    فللتَسَحُّبِ فيها لينُ مُنْسحَبِ

    Sufficing you to gain glory, our master

    You did not entrust it nor worked to earn nobility

  67. ماضٍ على الهَوْل نحو المجدِ يَطلبُهُ

    من شأنه السُّربةُ البُعدى من السُّربِ

    But acted like fathers whose great deeds

    Were shining virtues, relieving distress

  68. لا يتَّقي في جميلٍ هولَ مُرتكَبٍ

    إذا اتَّقى في رَغيبٍ قُبْحَ مُرتكَبِ

    And none of your views, in the sight

    Of a reasonable and educated man were unsound

  69. أحْمى فأرْعَى وآوى مَنْ يُطيفُ به

    في حيثُ يأمن من خوفٍ ومن سَغَبِ

    If one is son of generous people but does no good

    He is not chosen in the morning or evening

  70. فضيفُهُ في ربيعٍ طولَ مُدَّته

    وجارهُ كلَّ حين منه في رجَبِ

    And every branch of a fruitful origin that dried up

    Is not valued, the lowest of branches

  71. الأمنُ والخصبُ للثَّاوي بعقْوَتِهِ

    وقْفَيْنِ قد كَفَياهُ كلّ مضطرَبِ

    For that reason many fruitless date palms are sheltered

    Watered and cared for, while firewood is discarded

  72. فليسَ كشحاهُ مَطوِيَّيْنِ عن رَغَبٍ

    ولا جناحاه مضمومَيْنِ من رَهَبِ

    If not for the benefits hoped from their fruits

    People would not favor apples over acorns

  73. أغرُّ يجتلبُ المُدَّاحَ نائلُهُ

    وأكثرُ الناس مدحاً غيرَ مُجتَلَبِ

    Cultivate your plants to reap thanks from every pouch

    You gave something so attach it to its context for us

  74. تلقاهُ من نهضهِ للمجدِ في صَعَدٍ

    ومن تواضُعِهِ للحق في صَببِ

    And investigate again the causes

    Speak firmly to the young man among us and his master

  75. كأنَّه وهو مسؤولٌ ومُمْتدَحٌ

    غَنَّاهُ إسحاقُ والأوتارُ في صَخبِ

    With pleasing, forbearing speech that stills anger

    Serious or joking, as you wish, rein them

  76. يهتزُّ عطفاهُ عند الحمدِ يسمعُهُ

    من هِزَّة المجد لا من هِزَّة الطَرَبِ

    Your noble nature, rein anger with shoes

    Know you are hoped for and awaited

  77. زَوْلٌ يقسِّمُ أمراً واحداً شُعَباً

    وقادرٌ أن يَضمَّ الأمرَ ذا الشُّعَبِ

    So intercede with the intercession of the hoped for and awaited

    By God, the money of people you earned

  78. مَعانُ خَيْرَيْنِ للرُّواد مُكتَسبٍ

    من العوارف يُسديها ومُكتتَبِ

    O best of earners, from the best earnings

    Preserve it, preserving without parallel

  79. كالبحر مُنْفجِراً من كلّ منفجَرٍ

    والغيثِ منسكباً من كلّ منسكبِ

    Except success, and save it from corruption

    Let no hand you entrusted hope in you

  80. جاء السَّوادان يمتارانِ فاحتقبا

    من عِلمِه ونداهُ خيرَ محتقَبِ

    Be deprived, nothing is like deprivation

    If asked, we'd say poverty makes poor

  81. يقظانُ مازال تُغْنيه قريحَتُهُ

    عن التجاربِ يَلقاهُنَّ والدُّرَبِ

    But sorrow of war is greater than it

    No neighbor you're protecting should worry

  82. ذو لمحةٍ تدرِك العُقبى إذا احتجبتْ

    عن العقولِ بغيبٍ كُلَّ محتجَبِ

    Rather your neighbor remains safe from worry

    Make peace with fate in abundant grace

  83. يَفري الخطوبَ إذا اشتدت معَرَّتُها

    من كيده بخميس غير ذي لَجَبِ

    And return guided, with the best outcome

    And may God cheer a soul you own

  84. رمَى من الحقِّ أغراضاً فَقْرطَسَها

    وطالما رُميَتْ قِدماً فلم تُصَبِ

    For it is estranged from its heights

    Take it as a gift, I didn't wed it to you while single

  85. بصائبٍ من سهام الرأي أيَّدَهُ

    بالبحث والفحص لا بالرِّيشِ والعَقَبِ

    O son of the minister, I married many singles

    I used to wed the like of her before you

  86. فأيُّ عدلٍ وفَضْلٍ في قضيته

    إذا تجاثَى بنو الجُلَّى على الرُّكبِ

    And which caller to you praising was not answered?

    You never shortchanged a reward thus earned

  87. فإن عَصَتْ بَدَهاتِ الرأي مُعْضِلةٌ

    أذكى لها فِكَراً أذكى من اللّهبِ

    Which introducer of truth to you was not rewarded?

    Whoever fights for supremacy to possess it

  88. وما الحقوقُ إذا استقصى بضائعةٍ

    ولا الكلامُ إذا أحصى بمُنتَهبِ

    With your valor was never preceded in victory

    My prince, the works of his father

  89. يَجِدُّ جِدَّ بعيدِ الهمِّ مُنتدبٍ

    لكل خطبٍ جليل كلَّ مُنتدَبِ

    Became collars worn by non-Arabs and Arabs

    However much you promise, it is noted and calculated

  90. ويَفْكَهُ الحالَ بعد الحالِ مُقتَفِياً

    آثار من قَرَنَ السُّلَّاء بالرُّطبِ

    And whatever you make becomes a calculated thing

    You give while your face is smiling, pretending with us

  91. مُسدَّدٌ في جواباتٍ يُجيبُ بها

    كأنها أبداً مأخوذةُ الأُهَبِ

    As if your hand did not favor nor gift

    The visit of a resolute sinner, apologizing,

  92. فيها حلاوةُ ظَرْفٍ غير مُنْتحَلٍ

    إلى فخامة علم غير مؤتشَبِ

    And the act of a sinner is sweeter than striking

    O you, when asked, you inspire the request

  93. يَزينُها بإشاراتٍ ملحَّنةٍ

    كأنها نغمُ التأليف ذي النِّسَبِ

    If we're silent, you assume the need to ask

    You granted bounty then brought it out for us

  94. كم موطنٍ قد جرى فيه مَجاريَهُ

    يمرُّ فيه مروراً غير ذي نَكَبِ

    Without extended necks or effort

    As if God's bounty secured for you

  95. محدِّثاً أو مُبيناً عن مُجمجَمةٍ

    أو هازلاً هَزْلَ صَدَّافٍ عن الحُوَبِ

    In eternal paradise from care and fatigue

    Sheer, filtered, we never knew its source

  96. فما تطايَر كالمخلوقِ من شَررٍ

    ولا تَوَاقَر كالمنحوت من خشبِ

    A spring of grace that none can exhaust

    May God reward you for us with what

  97. بل ظل يُوزنُ بالقسطاس مأخذُهُ

    مُجاوزاً عَتَباً منه إلى عَتَبِ

    The possessor of grace, height, and purity from flaws is rewarded

    We are not surprised, though you surprise us

  98. بين الخُفاف وبين الطَّيْش مُجتذِباً

    عُرا القلوب إليه كلَّ مُجتذَبِ

    That selected gold comes from the gold mine

    But we're surprised at kindness we cannot reward

  99. تُعَضِّلُ الأرضُ ضِيقاً عن جلالته

    ويَسلُكُ الخُرْتَ عفواً لُطْفَ مُنْسَربِ

    And seek from you more, the greatest surprise

    If an insincere person flees sincere kindness

  100. ساهٍ وما تُتَّقَى في الرأي سَقْطتهُ

    داهٍ وما يُنطوى منه على رِيبِ

    Unable to thank, we will not flee

    But you're the man who gives kindness and sees

  101. فدهيُهُ للدواهي الرُّبْدِ يَدمغُها

    وسَهْوهُ عن عيوب الناس والغِيَبِ

    Leaving the account to you as the best stance

    Gaining glory sufficed you, our master

  102. لولا عجائبُ لُطفِ اللَّه ما نبتتْ

    تلك الفضائلُ في لحمٍ وفي عَصَبِ

    You did not entrust it or act for nobility

    But acted like fathers whose great deeds

  103. لِيَبْهَجِ الدِّينُ والدنيا فإنهما

    قد أصبحا في جَنابيه بمصطحَبِ

    Were shining virtues, relieving distress

    No view of yours the wise would disagree with

  104. يا ابن الوزير الذي أضحتْ صنائعُهُ

    مُقلِّداتٍ رقابَ العُجْم والعَرَبِ

    In the sight of a reasonable, educated man

    If one is son of generous people but does no good

  105. مهما وعدْتَ فمذكورٌ ومحتَسَبٌ

    وما اصطنعتَ فشيءٌ غَيرُ مُحتسبِ

    He is not chosen in the morning or evening

    And any branch from a fruitful origin that dried up

  106. تُعطي ووجْهُك مبسوطٌ يُصانعنا

    كأنَّ كفَّك لم تُفْضِلْ ولم تَهَبِ

    Is not valued, the lowest of branches

    For that reason many fruitless date palms are sheltered

  107. لقاءُ جانٍ إلى العافينَ مُعتذرٍ

    وفعلُ مُجْنٍ جنىً أحلى من الضَّرَبِ

    Watered and cared for, while firewood is discarded

    If not for the benefits hoped from their fruits

  108. يا من إذا ما سألناهُ استهلّ لنا

    وإن سكتْنا تَجَنَّى علَّةَ الطَلبِ

    People would not favor apples over acorns

    Cultivate your plants to reap thanks from every pouch

  109. أجاد تَكْمينَ نُعمى ثم أطلعها

    لنا بلا مَدّ أعناقٍ ولا تعبِ

    You initiated something so attach it to its context for us

    And connect again the causes one by one

  110. كأنها نعمةُ اللَّهِ التي خَلَصَتْ

    في جَنّة الخُلْد من هَمٍّ ومن نَصَبِ

    Speak firmly to the young man among us and his master

    With pleasing, forbearing speech that stills anger

  111. مَبَرَّةً لَطُفَتْ منه وتَصفيةً

    لَمَوْرد العُرْفِ لم نعرفهما لأَبِ

    Serious or joking, as you wish, rein them

    Your noble nature, rein anger with shoes

  112. أثابك اللَّهُ عنا ما يُثابُ به

    ذو الفَضلِ والطَّولِ والعافي عن الرِّيبِ

    Know you are hoped for and awaited

    So intercede with the intercession of the hoped for and awaited

  113. وما عَجِبنا وإن أصبحتَ تُعجبنا

    أن يُجتبى ذهبٌ من مَعْدِنِ الذهبِ

    By God, the money of people you earned

    O best earner from the best earnings

  114. لكن عَجِبنا لعُرفٍ لا نُكافئُهُ

    ونستزيدُك منه أكثر العَجَبِ

    Preserve it, preserving without parallel

    Except success, and save it from corruption

  115. لو فرَّ مصطَنَعٌ من عُرْف مصطنعٍ

    عَجْزاً عن الشكر لم نُسبق إلى الهَرَبِ

    Let no hand you entrusted hope in you

    Be deprived, nothing is like deprivation

  116. لكنك المرءُ يُسدي عرفَهُ ويرى

    تركَ الحساب عليه أفضلَ الحَسَبِ

    If asked, we'd say poverty makes poor

    But sorrow of war is greater than it

  117. وقد كفاك ائتنافَ المجد سيِّدُنا

    فلم تُواكِلْ ولم تعملْ على النسبِ

    No neighbor you're protecting should worry

    Rather your neighbor remains safe from worry

  118. لكن فعلتَ كآباءٍ لكم فُعُلٍ

    بِيضِ الصنائع كشَّافين للكُربِ

    Make peace with fate in abundant grace

    And return guided, with the best outcome

  119. وما عدوتَ من الآراء أصوبَها

    عند امرئٍ كان ذا عقلٍ وذا أدبِ

    And may God cheer a soul you own

    For it is estranged from its heights

  120. إذا ابن قَومٍ وإن كانوا ذوي كرمٍ

    لم يفعلِ الخير أمسى غير مُنتجَبِ

    Take it as a gift, I didn't wed it to you while single

    O son of the minister, I married many singles

  121. وكلُّ شعبةِ أصلٍ مثمرٍ عَقُمت

    فليس تُعتدُّ إلا أرذلَ الشُّعبِ

    I used to wed the like of her before you

    And which caller to you praising was not answered?

  122. لذاك من قُضُب الرمّان مُكتَنَفٌ

    يُحمى ويُسقَى ومنبوذٌ مع الحطبِ

    You never shortchanged a reward thus earned

    Which introducer of truth to you was not rewarded?

  123. لولا الثمار التي تُرجى منافعُها

    ما فضَّل الناسُ تفاحاً على غَرَبِ

    Whoever fights for supremacy to possess it

    With your valor was never preceded in victory

  124. ها إنَّ تا خطبةٌ قام الخطيبُ بها

    صريحةُ الصدق لم تُمْذَق ولم تُشَبِ

  125. والغَرْسُ نَفْلٌ وربُّ الغَرس مُفْترِضٌ

    فاربُبْ غراسك تجنِ الشكر من كَثَبِ

  126. أسديتَ أمراً فألْحِمْهُ بلُحمته

    لنا وسبَّبْت فاجدُل مِرَّةَ السَّببِ

  127. كلِّم فتى طَيِّئٍ فينا وسيّدَها

    تكليمَ راضٍ مُليحٍ صفحةَ الغضبِ

  128. جِدّاً وحَدّاً إذا ما شئتَ هَزَّهُما

    طباعُكَ الحُرُّ هزَّ العَضب ذي الشُّطَبِ

  129. واعلم بأنك مأمولٌ ومُرتقبٌ

    فاشفع شفاعةَ مأمولٍ ومُرْتَقَبِ

  130. اللَّهَ في مالِ قومٍ أنت كاسبُهُ

    يا خيرَ مكتَسِبٍ من خير مكتسَبِ

  131. حافظْ عليهِ حفاظاً لا وراءَ له

    إلا النجاحُ وأنقِذْه من العطبِ

  132. لا تُسْلَبَنَّ يدٌ قد أمَّلت بكمُ

    ما أمَّلتْه فلا حرمانَ كالسَّلبِ

  133. ولو سُئلنا لقلنا الفقرُ فاقِرةٌ

    لكنَّ أعظمَ منه حسرةُ الحَرَبِ

  134. وليس يَشْجَبُ جارٌ أنت مانعُهُ

    لا زال جارُك ممنوعاً من الشجبِ

  135. واسلمْ على الدهر في نعماءَ سابغةٍ

    وارجِعْ مُوقّىً مُلقّىً خيرَ مُنقلَبِ

  136. وآنَسَ اللَّهُ نفساً أنت صاحبها

    فإنها من معاليها بمُغتَرَبِ

  137. خذها هَدِيّاً ولم أُنكِحْكَها عَزَباً

    يا ابنَ الوزير وكم أنكحتُ من عَزَبِ

  138. ما زلت تنكِحُ من قبلي نظائرها

    وأيُّ داعٍ إليك المدحَ لم يُجَبِ

  139. وما خسَسْتَ الثوابَ المستثاب بها

    وأيُّ مُهدٍ إليك الصدق لم يُثَبِ

  140. ومن يُقاتلْ عن العليا ليَمْلِكها

    بمثل خِيمِكَ لم يُسبق إلى الغَلبِ
