قلْ لِعمَّارِ بن عمَّا

ر ألا تُعظِمُ قدري

Say to 'Ammar ibn 'Amma

Do not make light of me

بحِرِ اِخْتِكْ وحِرِ والِ

دَتْكَ لا تعْبَث بشعْري

With your idle talk and family

Do not trifle with my poetry

وأذِقْني فرجَ الزوْ

جة مُنقاداً لأمري

And let me enjoy the delight

Of marriage, complying with my will

وتذكَّر حين تنسى

حِرَ عَمَّتْكَ وأيري

And remember, though you forget

The honor of your aunt and uncle

حِرُ خالَتِكَ للجي

ران لكن لستَ تدري

Your aunt's honor is for neighbors

But you do not realize
