1. يا حسنَ الوجه والشمائلِ وال

    أخلاقِ والرأي والأفاعيلِ

    O you of beautiful face, character, morals, wisdom, deeds and actions

    Why do others gain your favor while I gain nothing but rebukes?

  2. ما بالُ غيري يحظى لديك ولا

    أحظى بشيءٍ سوى التعاليلِ

    If you were to abandon your inclination and stop entertaining nonsense

    I would not lose hope or stop wishing you well

  3. ولو تخلّيت من علائقِ تأ

    ميلكَ قفَّيتَ بالأباطيلِ

    I do not flatter or praise you falsely

    Or build up your status with empty words

  4. لكنني فيك غيرُ ما عُطُلٍ

    من حسنِ ظنٍ وبُعدِ تأميلِ

    Join me to my livelihood and grant me dues

    Sweeter than the flowing of pants

  5. وما أُحابيكَ في المديح ولا

    شِيدتْ معاليكَ بالأقاويلِ

    Without procrastination or delay

    Expediting this with all haste

  6. صِلني برزقي وفائتي صِلةً

    ألذَّ من نَشْطةِ السراويلِ

    And be not like the group who made

    Their honor ransom for the immoral

  7. بلا دفاعٍ ولا مماطلةٍ

    مُعجلاً ذاك كلّ تعجيلِ

    By the right of the One who stands in place

    Of crown for the king and wreaths

  8. ولا تكنْ مثلَ معشرٍ جعلوا

    أعراضَهم فديةَ المناذيلِ

    No, but the place of arms whose polish

    Is for the heroic youth

  9. بحقّ ذاك الذي يقومُ مقا

    مَ التاجِ للمَلكِ والأكاليلِ

    No, the place of defense and victory

    Present in the hour of adversities

  10. لا بلْ مقامَ السلاحِ ذلقه ال

    صيقلُ للفتيةِ البهاليلِ

    A supporter, advisor, never deviating

    From truth or misleading

  11. لا بل مقامَ الدفاعِ والظفرِ ال

    حاضرِ في ساعةِ البلابيلِ

    Our master, our full moon, our hope

    The one, in word and deed

  12. يُمناً ورأياً مجنَّباً أبداً

    كلّ ضلالٍ وكلَّ تضليلِ

    Father of Al-Hussein, through whom

    The virtues of rule returned after change

  13. سيّدِنا بدرِنا مؤَمَّلِنا

    واحدِنا في الفَعال والقيلِ

    May God fill what He granted him

    With no diminishing or altering

  14. أبي الحسينِ الذي به رجعتْ

    محاسنُ الملكِ بعد تبديلِ

    Grant me sincerity from you and

    Loyalty that rewards without delay

  15. ملَّأَهُ اللَّهُ ما حباهُ به

    لا بزوالٍ ولا بتحويلِ

    May you succeed with talents that pour

    Like the shoreline of the Nile overflows

  16. ممتعاً بالصفاءِ منك وبال

    إخلاصِ يجزيك غيرَ تأجيلِ

    May God dress you, O Abu Umar

    In a robe of brilliance and crown of reverence

  17. موفقاً فيك للصنائع يُس

    ديهنَّ ما فاض ساحلُ النيلِ

    O you whom when the critic consults

    He points to wisdom and erudition

  18. ألبسكَ اللَّه يا أبا عُمرٍ

    ثوبَ بهاء وتاجَ تبجيلِ

    Take sufficient dues from your brother

    To meet again later in detail

  19. يا من إذا ما اجتباه منتقدٌ

    دلَّ على حكمةٍ وتحصيلِ

    Balanced in meter, though leaning

    Away from your balanced weights

  20. خذ صِلةً من أخيك كافيةً

    يلقاكَ ما بعدَها بتفصيلِ

    In the words of a free man authorized

    To you in kindness, giving all agency

  21. راجحة الوزنِ وهْي شائلةٌ

    عن قَدْرِك الراجح المثاقيلِ

    Who said some of what you granted

    Not praising you falsely or vaguely

  22. من قول حُرّ مُخوّل لك بال

    إحسان تُوليهِ كلَّ تخويلِ

    And may you remain in health

    And the shelter of bounty in attire

  23. قال ببعضِ الذي منحتَ ولم

    يمدحْكَ بالزور والتهاويلِ

  24. ولا تَزَلْ من لبوس عافيةٍ

    وسِترِ نعماءَ في سرابيلِ
