1. الحمد للَّه لا شريك لهُ

    مدبِّر الأمر مُنزل القَطرِ

    Praise be to Allah, who has no partner

    The Manager of affairs, Sender of rain

  2. عُضدتَ بابنين أصبحا لك في ال

    تدبيرِ مثل اليدين للظهرِ

    You have been supported by two sons who in

    Managing affairs became like two hands to the back

  3. وشكرُها ذاك أن تُقيل وأن

    تصفحَ يا ذا السناء والفخرِ

    Thank Him by easing their way and

    Overlooking, O Most Praiseworthy and Honored

  4. يا أكمل الناس في فضائله

    من أهل بدوٍ وساكني حضرِ

    O most perfect of people in virtues

    Amongst Bedouins and settled folk

  5. بحقّ مَن تُوجَب الحقوقُ لهُ

    من هاشميِّيك أنجم الدهرِ

    By the right of the one whose rights are due

    Of your Hashemite family, stars of time

  6. صِلنا بأن تُكمل الرضا لأبي

    إسحاق تَسعد بالحمد والأجرِ

    Bless us by completing the contentment of my father

    Isaac, made happy by praise and reward

  7. وهبت شطر الرضا له فهب ال

    كلَّ فليس الكمال في الشطرِ

    You granted half the contentment to him, so grant

    All, for perfection is not in halves

  8. قد فاز بالمجلس الشريف فبد

    دِلْهُ بلحظ الرضا من الشزر

    He won the noble council, so replace it

    With a glance of contentment from the brows

  9. أنت الثِّقاف الذي يقام به ال

    زَيغ وأنت المُقيل للعَثر

    You straighten what is crooked

    And lift up those who stumble

  10. أنت الذي أنزلتهُ همتُهُ

    منزلة الفَرقدين والنسرِ

    You whom your resolve has placed

    In the position of polestars and eagles

  11. وأنت في عِفَّة السريرة وال

    علم شبيه بجدك الحَبرِ

    You in modesty of conduct and

    Knowledge are like your grandfather the scholar

  12. ما نعمةُ اللِّه فيه راضيةً

    صدَّك عنهُ بوجهك النضرِ

    No blessing of God in him makes you

    Turn your bright face away from him

  13. كم قائل حين قيل إن أبا

    إسحاق غادٍ غداً مع السفر

    How many said, when it was said Abu

    Isaac is leaving tomorrow on a journey

  14. ما مثلُ ذاك الفتى يُعَرَّض لل

    بَرِّ وآفاته ولا البحر

    None like that lad should be exposed to

    Harm and its pitfalls, not even the sea

  15. أما ونُعماك إنها قسمٌ

    قام مقام اليمين والنذرِ

    But by your blessings it is a decree

    That has taken the place of oath and vow

  16. لا أدَعُ النصح ما استطعتُ وإن

    لاقيتني بالعُبوس والزجر

    I shall not cease advising while I can, though

    I meet with frowns and rebuke

  17. إني شهيدٌ بأنك اليوم إن

    غاب فُواقاً فُجِّعت بالصبر

    I bear witness that today if he

    Is absent, you would grieve with patience

  18. وكيف بالصبر وامتزاجُكما

    مثل امتزاج الزُّلال والخمر

    But how can there be patience, when you two are mixed

    Like the mixing of limpid and wine

  19. صُنهُ عن العنف إن مَغمزَهُ

    من عودِك اللدن لا من الصخرِ

    Protect him from violence, if he is blamed

    For your habitual gentleness, not harshness

  20. وفي تعدِّي الحدود مَفسدةٌ

    وليس كل الأمور بالقسر

    In exceeding limits is corruption

    Not everything can be accomplished by force

  21. أما ترى العودَ إن عَنَفتَ به

    جاوزتَ تقويمَهُ إلى الكسر

    Do you not see, if you force a branch

    You exceed correcting it, to breaking

  22. ولست من يكسر الصحيح ألا

    بل جابرَ الكسر جابرَ الفقر

    I am not one to break the healthy

    But a mender of breaks, of poverty

  23. ما زلت ضد الزمان تصلِح ما

    يفسد مذ كنتَ من بني العشر

    You have not ceased righting what time

    Corrupts since you were of the ten

  24. تَجبرُ ما تكسِر الحوادثُ فال

    كسرُ عليها وأنت لِلجبر

    You mend what events break so

    Breaking is theirs but mending is yours

  25. خذها عروساً لا أقتضيك لها

    غير الرضا عن فتاك من مَهر

    Take her as a bride - I ask of you

    For her only contentment, no bride price

  26. وإن تماديتَ في مَساءتنا

    فيه شكونا إلى أبي الصقر

    But if you persist in offending us

    Therein we complain to Father of the Hawk
