1. نُبئتُ أن ابن خنسا

    ء قد تناولَ عِرضي

    I was told that the son of Khansa'

    Had maligned my honor,

  2. وقد رأى الناسُ جِدّي

    في الحادثات ونَهْضِي

    And people saw my dedication

    In events and my resolve.

  3. وقال قومٌ عَهِدْنا

    كَ لا تُرامُ فتُغضي

    Some said we know you

    Will not be provoked to anger.

  4. فقلتُ وتْرِي إيّا

    ه قد تقدّمَ نقضي

    So I said my honor

    Has preceded my retaliation.

  5. أقْرضْتُهُ قرض سُوءٍ

    فهَمُّه ردُّ قرضي

    I did him a bad favor

    So his intention is to repay my favor.

  6. وما على المُقرض القر

    ضَ لومةٌ حين يقضي

    The lender is not blamed

    When he takes what is due.

  7. وترْتُهُ في عجوزٍ

    جعلتها غِمْدَ بعضِي

    I left him in an old hag

    I made her the sheath of my blade.

  8. أولجتُ في ثُقبَتَيها

    أيراً بطُولي وعرضي

    I rammed into the slits of her folds

    My full length and width.

  9. جعلتُ دفعيه فيها

    ما عِشتُ نفلي وفرضي

    I made my pounding in her

    My pleasure and duty as long as I live

  10. وما أزال سماء

    من فوقها وهْي أرضي

    While she remains my carpet

    Spread out beneath me on earth.

  11. كم قد ركضتُ حشاها

    والنَغلُ يسمعُ ركضي

    How often I galloped her

    As the stallion hears my galloping.

  12. فإن أسرَّ وأبدى

    بغضي فحُقَّ ببغضي

    If he whispers and shows

    My hatred, then my hatred is justified.

  13. ما شتْمُ من أمه الده

    رَ مركبي بمُمِضِّ

    How can I resent

    One whose mother is my mare in heat

  14. وكيف سُخطي عليه

    وطِيزُها المترضِّي

    And how can I be angry with him

    When her rear is so smooth?

  15. فليشتم النَغلُ عرضي

    بالشَّتم لا المتقضِّي

    So let the stallion malign my honor

    With curses, not with mounting.

  16. فلستُ أهجُرُ كأسي

    ولستُ أهجر غمضي

    I do not refrain from my wine

    Nor refrain from my squinting.

  17. ولست أركبُ للكل

    ب في قضيضي وقضّي

    I do not mount the bitch while I bite

    And gnash my teeth.

  18. قل لابن خنساءَ سائل

    نَواتَها كَيف رَضّي

    Say to the son of Khansa', ask him

    Who quenched his thirst, how he was pleased

  19. إذ لا تزالُ تُسقّى

    من رائبي بعد مَخضي

    When she is still watered

    By my showers after my labor.

  20. إني لأعجبُ منها

    ومنك يا متَوضّي

    I really wonder about her

    And you, too, who pretends.

  21. تَشيَّعتْ لي قديماً

    ودِنتَ أنت برفضي

    She was dedicated to me long ago

    While you were rejected by my refusal.

  22. أخِلتني بظرَ خنسا

    ء فاستَلنتَ معضّي

    You disappointed me with the rear of Khansa'

    So you took my discarded one.

  23. خذها فقصرُك منها

    شتمٌ سيبقَى وتَمضي

    Take her! Your insult will remain

    While the days go by.

  24. وقد هجمتَ لعمرِي

    فانظر إلى أين تُفضي

    You have attacked me, by my life,

    So look and see where it will lead!
