صَبْحةَ النَّوْرُوز في الأحدِ
غَلَّ عنك الصومُ كلَّ يَدِ
The morning of Nowruz on Sunday
Fasting has been lifted from you completely
فصباح الفطر موعدنا
بصَبوحٍ كامل العُدَدِ
So the breakfast of Eid is our appointment
With a morning of perfect company
من كُميت اللون صافية
ترتمي في الكأس بالزَّبدِ
Of red wine, pure and clear
Sprinkling foam in the cup
فوقها مما تجيشُ به
حَبَب كاللؤلؤ البَدَدِ
Above it from what boils with
Seeds like shining pearls
خنْدريس عُتِّقت فغدت
من بنات الكرم والأبدِ
A freed slave girl so she became
One of the daughters of generosity and eternity
رُوح راحٍ أو حُشاشتُها
فهْيَ أخت الروح في الجسدِ
A departing soul or her awakening
She is the soul's sister in the body
صعبة في الرأس جامحة
سهلة في كل مُزْدَردِ
Difficult in the head, passionate
Easy in every flirt
وسماع صِيغَ من كَلِمٍ
قيِّم ما فيه من أوَدِ
And hearing composed words
Evaluating what's in it of love
صاغه صَوَّاغُه صِيَغاً
بِدَعاً لم تُلقَ في خَلَدِ
Its composer composed it
With a prayer not cast in eternity
فله في عقل سامعه
عملٌ كالنفث في العُقَدِ
So it has in the mind of its listener
An effect like blowing on knots
من ظباء غير نافرةٍ
غايةٍ في الحسن والغَيَدِ
Of gazelles, not startled
The utmost in beauty and swaying
رائماتٍ ما رَئمنَ سوى
أدوات اللهو من وَلَدِ
Does, not bored except
By the tools of play, of boys
وعلينا إذ قضى حَكَمٌ
أن سَبَقْتَ الفطر في الأمدِ
And on us, when a judgment decreed
You preceded Eid in the term
ياذِجاراتٌ سنشربها
لك فيه جمَّةُ العَدَدِ
O wines we will drink
For you in it a gathering of company
مُخْلِفِي يوم كيومك ما
فيه من بؤس ولا نكدِ
Leaving a day like your day what's in it
Of misery and no toil
مُنشيء النيروز ثانية
لا ذَوِي إثم ولا فندِ
Repeating Nowruz again
No sinners nor deviants
مُعْمِلي كأس يطوف بها
غلمة كالأدْم بالجَرَدَ
Making a cup circulate round which
Boys like red smoke
ذاك أقصى جُهدِنا لك إذ
فات في النيروز كل دَدِ
That is our utmost effort for you when
In Nowruz every arm missed
فاعذرينا إنه قدرٌ
ليس يعطي اليومَ حظَّ غَدِ
So excuse us, it's a destiny
Today does not give the share of tomorrow
