1. يا فاصدَ العرق المبارك فصدُهُ

    قسماً لقد صَفَّيْتَ غير مكدَّرِ

    O you who let the blessed sweat flow, so pure

    By God, you have filtered it, unclouded

  2. عِرق فَراه شبا الحديدة عن دمٍ

    كعُصارة المسك الذكي الأذفرِ

    Sweat that youths of iron see as blood

    Like the scent of musk, gentle and yellow

  3. يشفى من الكَلب العَياء إذا أبى

    كلّ الإباء على الشفاء الأكبر

    It would cure a stubborn dog if it refused

    All refusal, of the greatest healing

  4. لو كان ماءً للوجوه لأشرقتْ

    ورأت لها الأبصارُ أحسن منظر

    If it were water for faces, they would shine

    And sights would see for them the finest view

  5. سفكْت به كفُّ الطبيب صُبابةً

    كم دونها من وِردِ موتٍ أحمر

    With it the hand of the doctor poured a draught

    How many roses of death are redder?

  6. إنّي أظن قرارةً حَظيتْ بهِ

    ستكون أخرى الدهر معدنَ عنبر

    I think a spot blessed with it

    Will for all time be a mine of ambergris

  7. لو تشرب الأرض الدماء لطيبها

    شربتْ فَصيدك أمسِ أرضُ العسكر

    If earth drank bloods for its scent

    Yours of yesterday the army's land drank

  8. أتلفْ به داءً وأخلِفْ صحةً

    والبسْ جديد العيش لبسَ معمَّر

    Destroy disease with it, restore health

    And don the dress of new, long life

  9. غادرتَ فصدك غرة مشهورة

    في وجه يوم السبت حتى المحشر

    Your letting blood is a famed deed

    To the face of Saturday, until Resurrection

  10. قد كان يوماً لا نباهةَ باسمهِ

    فكسوتَهُ سِيما أغرَّ مُشهَّر

    It was a day once, with no fame in its name

    But you clothed it in features most excellent
