1. أيا هَنتاه هل لك في هريسٍ

    بلُحمانِ النَّواهِض والبطوطِ

    O Hantah, do you have any interest in an old camel blanket

    With the shapes of gazelles and ducks

  2. وأضلاع الرُّخال مُربَّيَاتٍ

    بكسب المروِ والعجم اللقيطِ

    And ribs of well-bred mares

    Dyed with madder and foreign mordant

  3. صنيعةِ خابِرٍ صَنِعٍ مُجيدٍ

    أخي علمٍ بصنعتها مُحيط

    The work of an expert artisan

    My brother, knowledgeable about this art

  4. أملَّ الليلَ يعقدُها بضربٍ

    فجاءَ بها تمدَّد كالخيوطِ

    He worked the night stringing them like threads

    And brought them out stretched like strings

  5. وبين يديك من مُريٍ عتيقٍ

    توارثه القرون عن النَّبيط

    And in your hands an old blanket

    Inherited through generations from the Bedouin

  6. فتبركُ فوق صفحتِها بُروكاً

    كما برك البعير على الخبيط

    So bless it with your blessings

    As the camel blessed the saddle cloth

  7. فيا للهِ من لقمٍ هُناكم

    تجاوبُ بالشَّحيج وبالغطيط

    What a delicious morsel there
