لي صديقٌ صامتيٌّ

قحطبيٌّ باحتيالِهْ

I have a silent friend

A swindler though poor

أكرمُ الجِنَّة والإن

س على قلة مالِهْ

The most generous of mankind

Despite his lack of wealth

رجلٌ ماعُونُهُ الأص

غرُ أحراحُ عيالِهْ

A man whose only tools

Are the cries of his children

لا أُسميه عَساهُ

لا يُرائِي بفعالِهْ

I shall not name him

Lest he take offense at my words
