1. ولي طيلسان ناحل غير أنه

    ثَبوتٌ لهبات الرياح الزعازعِ

    I have a willow tree, slender yet

    Steadfast against gusting winds

  2. وما ذاك إلا أنه متهتِّكٌ

    يخلّي سبيل الريح غير منازع

    That's just because it sways and bends

    Letting the winds pass without pretense

  3. أراه كضوء الشمس بالعين رؤية

    ويمنعني من لمسه بالأصابع

    I see it like the sun's light meets my eye

    Yet stops my hand from touching it nearby

  4. شكى ثقل اسم الطيلسان لضعفه

    فسميته ساجاً فها ذاك نافعي

    It complained its name was far too weighty

    So I called it "saja", and it was sated by me
