Abu al-Husain extended to me a hand,

Through it I hope for reward from him tomorrow.

Such are the ways of the generous when

A hand is extended, another is counted for him.

So he sees the approval of what he donates,

And his requests are not met with misery.

    If someone envies himself,

I claim you are that someone.

A day will come in which his goodness is stirred,

May your habit ever remain thus.

O you who competes with himself out of envy,

You have done well by envying it with envy.

O Lord, make him feel at ease, for I reckon

Him lonely because of his seclusion.
