    O you who are amazed

By the story of al-Aziz's wife and Joseph

Than any we knew or did not know

By her right and his she tempted me

A female and a whiteness like an erect rod

So cease your wonder at them, and wonder

At two old men, both like bishops

The decrepit one enticed me with his agedness

Tell me which glance did I not glance with

His verse in his abode made me hope

That he would complain to me of passionate love

An old man tempting his like, both

Having crossed seventy with steps faltering

He kept unveiling me and kissing, aroused

Until I mounted the back of a barren donkey

I uncovered him, stripping his clothes

To reveal an ugly, split replica

As if the white of his replica surrounded

Scattering the mixture on the sides of a trough

I endured a remembered night from him

If not for God's defense, it would not be exposed

It was as if his night upon me in its length

Labored till dawn at the place of standing
