حبستْنا السماءُ حبساً كريماً

من كريمٍ وعِندَ حُرٍّ كريمِ

The sky has imprisoned us in a generous confinement,

From a generous one, and in the abode of a noble free man.

فظللنا بما ادَّعيناه من حل

مٍ وعلم ونائلٍ ونعيمِ

So we have remained in the protection that we claimed,

Of solution, knowledge, attainment and blessing.

في أمانٍ ومَأمَنٍ بين غَيْثٍ

وغياثٍ لحادث وقديمِ

In safety and refuge, between pouring rain

And help for an old and recent accident.

قاسمٍ قاسمِ العطايا الذي حا

ز العُلى وحْدَهُ بغيرِ قسيمِ

A divider, dividing the gifts, who alone

Attained the heights, without an associate.

فرأينا العُلا أحَظَّ به مِنْ

هُ بها في قضاءِ كُلِّ حكيمِ

So we saw the heights were more deserving of him

Than them, in the judgement of every wise one.

كَسْرَوِيٌّ شرابهُ من رحيقٍ

ومِزاجُ الرحيقِ من تَسْنيمِ

Like a heavenly drink, his drink of pure wine,

And the blend of pure wine is from gentle blowing.

وغناءٌ كأَنَّهُ أرْيَحيّا

تُ الصِبى تستخِفُّ حِلْمَ الحليمِ

And songs that are like the playing of youths

Mocking the patience of the forbearing.

قَيِّمٌ كلّهُ وإنْ صِيغَ مِنْ أعْ

وجَ ذي عطفةٍ ومن مُستقيمِ

All righteous, though created from one bending over

With kindness and uprightness.

في رِباعٍ مثلِ الرياضِ يُحَيِّي

كَ بأنفاسها رَقيقُ النسيمِ

In gardens like meadows, reviving you

With its gentle breezes, gently blowing.

مَنْ سقَى ما سقَى وأسمعَ ما أسْ

مع لم يُبِق غايةً للنديمِ

Whoever drank what he drank, and heard what was heard

Left no pinnacle for the cupbearer.

جعل الله ريح دولتِهِ الده

رَ نَسيماً يَفوقُ كلَّ نَسيمِ

May God make the wind of his enduring kingdom

A breeze surpassing all other breezes.
