حبذا حشمة الصديق إذا ما

حجزت بينه وبين العقوقِ

How excellent is the virtue of a friend when

He restrains between him and disobedience

حين لا حبذا انبساطٌ يؤدي

ه إلى بخس واجبات الحقوقِ

When there is no excellent expansiveness that leads

To diminishing the duties of rights

وكلت حاجتي إليك فأضحت

وهي مني بموضع العَيّوق

And my need for you became

While it is in my place of obstacle

وجعلت الصديق أولى بأن يل

غى ويرضى بخُلَّبات البروق

And I made the friend worthier to

Ignore and be content with lightning flashes

أحمد الله ما وردت من الإخ

وان غير المكَدَّر المطروق

I praise God for what comes from companions

Other than the troubled, beaten one

وإلى الله أشتكي أن ودي

ليس ممن وددتُ بالمرزوق

And to God I complain that my love

Is not from those I loved with sustenance

مِقَتِي غير وامق تقرع القل

ب فطوبى لوامق موموق

My hatred is not diminishing, striking the heart so blessed are the diminishing, protected ones

How much do you see I have stored with a

كم ترى لي ذخيرة عند خل

سقطت من جرابه المخروق

Friend whose bag is torn

O people of guidance to righteousness show us

أيها المعشر الهداة إلى الرش

د أبينوا لنا بيان الصدوق

The explanation of the truthful one

Where is our salvation when we meet

أين منجاتنا إذا ما لقينا

من مسيغ الشجا شجاً في الحلوق
